How do you color the salt? Is there a way to do it that is easy? How about in large batches...say 3 - 5 pounds at a time?

Food coloring. Just don't use too much and stir it A LOT to keep it from clumping.

Works best if you have a food processor. Pulse kosher salt in a food processor while adding a couple of drops of food coloring. You have to start with kosher or any coarse salt because it will get a little ground up in the food processor.

I've also added lime and orange zest which gives it a nice flavor. But the color is not as intense as with the food coloring.

You'de have to make the salt to change the color, its in the process of changing it. I would seriously go out and buy some. They have cheap ones for 3 bucks. It saves time too.

Food coloring is available at all grocery stores in the baking area and is tasteless and non toxic. just add a few drops of whatever color you want and mix it together. you can do sugar the same way .
