I've seen this before. It would be nice if the people who pass the laws regardless of the general populations opinion would take a look at this.
I would like to say that I am more and more convinced that instead of us Pit owners saying "punish the deed not the breed." we need to come up with something else.
I don't know about anyone else but when I lived in Arizona there were not to many real bad Pits that I saw personnally, all though I am sure there were some. But I come back to California and there are so many Bad Pits it is not funny. I am convinced it is the breeding of these dogs. Take a look at the local Paper. people making money hand over fist on 2 dogs that have no business breeding. The laws should be geared to stop the breeding of dogs that have no need to breed. How , well that may take time to come up with but one suggestion would be to start fining people who advertise and or sell dogs in papers and magazines and online. this stuff can be regulated if we really wanted to. Make it a requirement to get a license to breed your dogs. Something simple, like it would just cost alot of money. may deter most people. All I am saying is there has to be something because no matter what we do the laws and the fanatical politicians are winning and our beloved dogs are soon to be a thing of the past only to be seen in books.

I don't think Pit Bulls are aggressive dogs at all. The aggression, I believe come from people who exert these type of characteristics upon the animals. If the people is loud, violent and aggressive...then, I'm sure the dog will follow suit & think this type of behaviour is acceptable since his owner is like this. Irresponsible owners will always give any dogs a bad rep. But if the owner is loving, caring and nutures the dog, then, the dog will know how to love, care and behave well. There are no bad dogs out there, just bad owners.

OK, You are getting tired of people running down pit bulls. I am getting tired of people telling me that they are so wonderful and that if there are any problems that it is owner.

My own pit bull was absolutely the 'sweetest dog in the world', until he attacked and nearly killed my 3 year old daughter. (unprovoked)
My friend and neighbor's pit bull attacked her and mauled her leg, just because she told him "No, go lay down" when he was begging at the table.
My friend's pit bull attacked him while he was feeding him.
I work at a boarding/day care kennel. We have only 3 pit bull clients. None of them can be allowed to play with the other dogs, as they are always looking for a fight. These dogs are owned by the outstanding citizens of our town, who care enough to put them in day care while they work.
ALL of these were responsible owners, with well trained "sweet" pit bulls.
My friends run a pit bull rescue and show UKC p b's and poodles. They came home from a trip to the grocer's to find 3 poodles dead, and 1 wounded. The pit bulls were all bloody and happy.
Yes, many pit bulls are and stay wonderful pets. But many of them do not... I will never trust another.
Just look at the asker's questions for a couple of days. So many are about a dog aggressive pit bull, and how to make them not kill the other dogs, or tear the fence down trying to get at people and dogs, etc.

PEOPLE breed these dogs to kill. The statistics are so high, because Pit Bulls are the only dogs really that are bred to fight and dog fights are so popular. People are constantly blindly walking downs paths of hatred because they are ignorant and know nothing about the breed. Most of these people that are trying to ban pit bulls have never even seen one in real life. People should be mad at the people who are breeding these dogs to fight, not mad at the dogs. We should put a ban on all ignorant people ;) What about the perverts online after your children? The rapists? Drug dealers? Arsonists? I don't know. People need to do research before they start banning things!

If trained right they can Be great dogs. Its the a$$holes that think its cool to have a "BAD" dog gives the rest of us who own pits very bad image to over come. I have personally "talked" to owners who let their pits run loose or train them to be aggressive. My dog is loving and gentle. When the kids that live around us he stays outside, on a leash and watches over them

Any dog can be aggressive, it is all how you raise them. If you want a pet that is like a family member, and spoil them and show them love and attention, not just their needs but their wants as well then their should be a problem. And i agree DOG FIGHTERS ARE SICKOS WHO DESREVE TO BE SHOT!

FOR ONE WITH ANY ANIMAL THAT MIGHT NEED TO BE PUT DOWN PUT IT DOWN. KIDS FOR ONE IF SMALL ENOUGH SHOULD NOT BE AROUND THE DOG OR TELLING HIM WHAT TO DO. THAT IS THE OWNER OF THE KIDS BLAME. I SAID TAKE CAUTIONS AND PEOPLOE WHO WANT TO TALK ABOUT PITBULLS IN A BAD WAY THAT IS WHAT GIVES PITBULLS A BAD NAME.
