My cat sucks and claws on wooly things, like sweaters or blankets, I was told it was something kittens grew out of but mine is 2.5 and she still does it (she has her own blanket she sleeps with). I got her from the pound and she was dumped at a very young age, so I think it was originally a missing her mother thing, but now its a comfort thing.

Well, like you said she does think it's her mom. This blanket reminds her of the softness of her mom's breast. She probably misses it but it's no big deal. Don't throw the blanket away or anything. If you want to maybe you should give to your cat like make a bed with it for her.

She could be trying to suck like its her mom or it could be a nervous thing. My cat use to lick a certain blanket in the same spot when she was nervous.

He feels relaxed and happy, It's just like the same behavour when a cat kneeds with its paws but when cats are taken away from it's mother to early they pick up the suckiling habbit, there's nothing to worry about.

There may be salt on the blanket from body perspiration. Cats like salt.

I have a cat that does that too.. only she does to my t-shirts...when I wear them.. weird, huh? I think it because she was given to me so young.... due to a dog had killed all of her litter mates and scared off her mother... She suckles because that gives her comfort.. and security... She is five years old and she still does it.

They say that if a kitten is taken to soon from its mother and not weaned properly they tend to do that. I took in a stray that kept trying to suck on my shirt..at least be happy it not trying to suck on you! well your clothes that is , uhem ;)

Maybe she was taken away from her mother too soon.

She does that because it comforts her.
