If the tonsils are really bad, or if your son gets infections a lot, then 2 is not too young. The age difference is for kiddos under 3, they usually have at least a one night stay in the hospital after they have their tonsils out. For kids over 3, it is most often done outpatient. I have seen many kids come in 2 or 3 to have their tonsils removed and they did just great and were much healthier. If you are in question about the doctor's opinion, then by all means get a second opinion or just wait, but 2 is not too young for this procedure, just expect an overnight hospital stay. Good luck with your son.

Well usually children have their tonsils removed at age 5-6.
2 may be a little early, you have to wait to see if your son grows out of it. If ti gets really serious, then have them removed, when removed this can improve some dental problems in the future with him and he can breathe better.
I had my tonsils removed a week and a half ago.

My daughter was 2 when she got her tonsils removed and it really helped her alot. I was so freaked about it because she was so little, but it helped her alot. She would always get throat infections and get really high fever, but after she got them removed-no more probs. Let me warn you though, afterwards-he will be in pain for a few days and a bit cranky LOL. Good luck!

I was 6 when I got mine removed. But if the Doctor recommended it then 2 must not be too early.

Get a second opinion from another doctor. Remember, these people are doctors, and they probably know more about medicine and health related fields than you do.
