I have been through soooo many bird rescues because I own cats...*sigh*..sparrows are iffy..they may be ok, they may not..I think it`s luck of the draw.bread is what i give them, too, but I put it in a jar lid and soak it in milk...they all seem to like that.If you leave it outside, put it in a cage and put something VERY heavy on the top to keep the cats away...and keep it shaded. They seem to do better outside, btw..you can tell within a few days if it seems more active, which means it will make it, but will need another week or so in the cage. I always gently wrap the wing next to its body, so it can heal correctly. I hope this helped! From my heart to yours.....! : )

It's wonderful of you to be concerned and help him, some people don't have any compassion and would have just left him there.
You should be able to look up a number for animal control in your area, they'll be able to take him for you and care for him. (Unless he's too badly injured, and then they'll gently euthanize him.)
If you live in a very rural area and don't have an animal control, call some local vet clinics and they should be able to refer you or take the bird for you.
Definitely turn him over to someone right away, b/c he'll only get worse without treatment. In the meantime, offer him some water in a shallow dish (but don't leave the dish with him in case he drowns), and buy a small bag of wild birdseed--don't give him people food or anything questionable, just offer him some seed and water and then call tomorrow.
In the meantime, keep him somewhere in your home where the temperature is relatively stable (like the bathroom), and put some towels under him so that he stays warm and doesn't make a mess all over if he poops. Once again, KEEP HIM INSIDE until you can get help for him--even if you have to ask a friend to babysit him--if you leave him outside unprotected, he'll bake helplessly in the sun, freeze if it rains, or be taken away by predators.

Sparrows eat seed. I don't know how old your bird is and therefore can't say if it needs food that is blended. You can call the local bird rehab center in your area and they might take it. Some of these places won't take sparrows since they are a introduced species and push out the native birds. You can look up English sparrow on the net for more info.

You should take him to the nearest vet or animal shelter asap!!! There they can set his wing so that it will grow back properly. If they can't then they will be able to tell you where to take him to get that wing treated properly. Please hurry, that bird is probably in a lot of pain!!!!! Birds shouldn't eat people food; see if you have any birdseed or sunflowerseeds (still in the shell; no salt). Only feed it bread as a last resort.

birds have a really high metabolism and it's best to keep him in a quiet place and not handle him too much. Call a vet in the morning, keep some water and bread nearby in case he needs to eat or drink.

Take it to a organic world rehabber, yet call ahead to ascertain they are equipped to safeguard this type of poultry and this kind of harm. in case you could not discover an section rehabber, call your close by vets and discover an place of work with an avian veterinarian on team. Ask to talk with him/her and attempt to cajole him/her to take the poultry and mend the wing. This desires specialist medical help ASAP or the wing will mend itself incorrectly and the poultry would lose flight completely, condemning it to a existence of captivity. contained in the meantime, grant crickets, mealworms, and some wild poultry seed alongside with clean water.
