Physically, no. But I like to believe that in some small way, I might have helped some self-destructive people I have known from taking their own lives just by saying something encouraging. A small, negative comment is often the straw that breaks the camel's back and sends unstable people who have already been beaten down over the edge, so why can't a small, positive comment have the opposite effect and do a little bit of good in their lives. Most people don't want to get involved with people like this, but sometimes all they want is for someone to just listen...probably makes a huge difference in the long run.

Yes, twice. When I was little I stood up on a moving ride at an amusement park to close the security gate and stopped my little sister and her friends from flying out.
Last year my gf was prescribed a duragesic patch (morphine patch) along with her percocet and it slowed her breathing enough that if I wouldn't have called 911 her lungs would have filled up with liquid and she would have drowned. I still don't know how long she was comatose before I found her. Calling 911 I was fine but after the diagnosis I was a little shook up. I didn't know she was that close.

Yes.... indirectly I suppose you'd say.. many years ago I was dating a girl... eventually we parted company but she ended up with a complete abusive jerk... she was with him for about 6 years when I happened to run into her again... after a long talk about various things, I found out what kind of a relationship she was in... she was really 'frigged up' in the head from this guy.. I tried to get her to leave him.. she wouldn't... and I couldn't deal with the BS she was putting me through.. so I told her why and I walked out of her life... I just got back in touch with her after 12 years... and she told me that she did leave him.. she realized what I said was true... and had I not talked to her and made her realize what a mistake she was making staying with him.. that she would have been dead.. but she thought about me and what I'd said and done for her over the years... and she knew that if she didn't leave him this one particular night.. that she'd likely be dead the next morning. She said she got strength from me.. from what I said.. and from knowing me.. and she left with her two young daughters... we're now in touch again and she's doing very well.

Yes , it gives a tremendous boost to our ego..... But if you look deeper, real saving of anyones life happens when you help that person to understand(having understood for yourself first), the true purpose of life and help that person , persuade the person to work towards fulfulling it. I think this would save that person's MANY LIFETIMES (instead of just this life)!

Yes. One time i was walking round the shops and saw this drunk rolling on the ground. People were just walking by him with a look of disgust on their faces, i went over and knew something was seriously wrong with him, as his face was bright red and he couldn't breathe. I put him on his side and opened his mouth, thats when i realized he had swallowed his tongue, i literally shoved my hand down his throat and pulled his tongue back up into his mouth. Luckily a nurse then came to my assistance so i just left then, i didn't want to hang around and explain what happened.

Yes, I have. I was 13 yrs. old and my baby sister who was 9 mos old got a hold of penny and put it in her mouth. She was choking and turning blue. I saved her life by patting her on the back and turning her over upside down on my knee.

Saved our friend with cancer by getting him admitted to the hospital twice when they didn't want to. Took his ornery a$$ for treatments, and he lived.
