When He rolls up His sleeves
He ain't just putting on the ritz
(Our God is an awesome God)
There's thunder in His footsteps
And lightning in His fists
(Our God is an awesome God)
And the Lord wasn't joking
When He kicked 'em out of Eden
It wasn't for no reason
That He shed His blood
HIS RETURN IS VERY CLOSE
And so you better be believing that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven abdove
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

And when the sky was starless
In the void of the night
(Our God is an awesome God)
He spoke into the darkness
And created the light
(Our God is an awesome God)
Judgement and wrath He poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not
Too quickly forgotten that
Our God is an awesome God

a fav song of mine

"Awesome God" I LOVE that song! I first learned it at a camp & learned the chorus in sign language; very cool! (I think so, anyway!)

...

Ah-ha, now it's stuck in my head! Not complaining!

PEACE!

Rich mullins wrote it. It's Probably the only contemporary worship song to be adopted into the hymns and accepted in churches that only sing hymns.

Reading up on him is really a great thing to do. He led an incredible lfe. To him his music wasn't his ministry. That was is source of income. He had taken a vow of poverty and lived off of about 36k a year. He didn't have money for nice clothes so when he would show up to perform and to lead worship, some places even kicked him out. They had booked him unaware of his disposition, and he'd show up bare foot, in a tshirt, jeans unshaven with long hair. When this happened he'd just walk to a street corner and sing praises the whole of the time he was supposed to be leading worship in a church. To him his true ministry was the Indian Reservation helived on. Almost all his money went to them and he stayed with them and taught them abouut Jesus until he died in a car crash in the late 90's.
He has many great songs including Awesome God, If I stand(one of my favorites), The other side of the world, My deliverer, Sometimes by Step and Hold me Jesus

It's pretty dim-witted but at least it's disgustingly schmaltzy.
