A mid telephoto len of 70 - 210 mm should cover everything. To capture multiple firework burst, set the camera on a tripod, choose the highest f-stop (i.e. F8), that will give you a long shutter speed. Set the camera to automatic so it picks the best speed. No tripod, brace the camera against a the side of a tree or rest on top of a car and slowly squeeze the shutter so as not to giggle the camera. If using film, choose ISO 100 (daylight) film. A flash will not help, unless you want to capture say people in the foreground, as well as the fireworks. Enjoy
