Yes.

Both Islam and Christianity believe in one God - in other words they are monotheistic.

Thats compared to panthestic which means "believing in more than one God."

There are other similiarities but this is the main one.

Why are you asking?

Yes, they are very similar.

If you were to jump back in time 2000 years ago, Jesus would probably view most Muslims has his children and most modern day "Christians" as the Pharasies. Practically no Christian religions follow Christ's teachings, but rather put their money driven politics in place of his teachings. Rather disgusting actually. No better than the Islamic clerics fanning the flames of militant Islam. It's all blastphamy even to the teachings of their own religions.

At the root, they are the same. Mohammad was a prophet. Christ called himself the son of man and was considered a prophet. His elevation in the church to the status of diety did not come about until a couple of hundred years after his death. In Islam Mohammad is partially held as a diety (though they would deny it) because it is not allowed to depict his image but they allow the dipiction of all other men (in this way he is revered as a god).

So both founders of their respctive religions wanted peace and respect for mankind... look how we have fouled both their names with so many wars...

Yes.
We believe in God. (Muslims call Him Allah, but it's apparent to me that He's the same person.) Muslims believe Jesus existed but they consider him a prophet, not the Son of God. We have similar moral standpoints, but Muslims take modesty to a different level because most Christians don't even believe in modesty anymore. Except for some of the extremist Muslim murders, Muslims are "better" Christians than most Christians (as far as acts go!) Islam is just like Christianity in that they're basically good people, and they started with a real creed, but have veered off the path.
The Quran, Koran, whatever, has many of the same teachings as the Bible. My personal belief is that Muslims and Jews would get along much better than Muslims and Christians, since they at least hold similar beliefs about Christ. Apparently that's not the case though.
And to the person who said that Christians believe you're saved no matter what...........REAL Christians do not believe that. We believe you have to ACCEPT that forgiveness and also make an honest real attempt at STOPPING yourself from committing sins in order to be saved. Of course no one is perfect and we all sin, but a real Christian doesn't WANT to sin anymore. Temptation gets to us, and we do sin. But we don't want to. There ARE people who claim that EVERYone goes to Heaven and every single person is saved, but according to the Bible they're not.

Yes. Both religions acknowledge the existence of satan. But while christianity says you should serve God and resist satan....do good instead of evil. Islam says the opposite. The reason has to do with something called the satanic verses. Muhammad was possessed by satan and turned Islam into a cult of incredible evil and depravity. Note that no Islamic scholar disputes this. Needless to say, discussion of the satanic verses makes muslims....uncomfortable. They know full well what the implications are.

Yes, there are manyyy! The main difference is that Christians now believe in the trinity and Muslims believe in just Allah as the Lord and Jesus (peace be upon him) as a Prophet and Messenger (very high, though.) :)

These are basically the same religions only worded to fit their respective adherents.

Christianity was geared towards Greeks and Romans and Islam towards Arabs.

Different cultures, different ways of understanding the same thing.

Trouble is, Constantine made a god out of a prophet and everyone believed him. If they didn't, they would have gotten killed for heresy.

Not really. Islam rejects Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Islam teaches that Christ was just a man and not God. Therefore the Qur'an is a lie.

if i am not mistaken.

Islam and Christianity are very similar in their purest forms.

They both basically preach same core basis. Some even believe that they are talking of same god, same teachings.

Very selective few even thinks that Islam is pre Christianity. As in someone translated Islamic to Latin with alterations, and Latin to English with alterations and named it bible.
