No, but it's not worst case scenario either. My 7 yr old brother is autistic and while he can be a challenge, I am grateful everyday that he is physically healthy. Of all the afflictions to be born with, I suppose autism isn't as bad as others.

My 11yr old son is autistic. The first few yrs were pretty rough. Now I look back on them and I know we can face anything. We are stronger as a family. He has made so much progress especially lately. I love being HIS dad. He is one of the funniest kids in his class because he sometimes doesn't know that he should have been embarrassed. This can give him the freedom to open up. For example, recently at camp they were supposed to perform a rap. From his group, only he and one other kid did it. The others were to shy to do it in front of everyone. Hang in there. Who in you life is autistic?

Remember...what the world views as positive attributes are not ALL there is to this world ~ ..try talking to the autistic person through music & computers.

Ah yes, my son is autistic and I find that he appreciates the detail in things that I often take for granted.
