This is for one of those easels for children, but we have another one with the same problem. Despite rubbing a chalk horizontally across the surface, and wiping hard with paper towel and the eraser like the directions say, the chalk still doesn't work well.

Ideas?

The same thing happened to me when i brought my son one for christmas last year, after awhile it started to work fine!!!

Here's what you HAVE to do..... take the entire stick of chalk,and holding it sideways , completely cover the entire chalkboard,like you are "coloring" with it . Go from east to west. Then, "color" over that going the opposite direction, north to south. You have to "cover the entire board with chalk first , then erase it and it's good to go.

Good question. Are you sure it's the board? Try new chalk.
