Contact the manufacturer customer service about getting the camera repaired. They may offer you the option of getting a remanufactured camera at a price that is less than purchasing a new camera, but you need to return your broken camera to them. If they don't offer you a remanufactured camera option, ask them about it.
These kinds of replacement programs may be better than sending your camera in for repair because you get an immediate replacement and you have a fixed price for the repairs. Yes, you get someone elses camera. But you may get the camera immediately.
My wife dropped here Canon compact digital camera and broke it and we did the exchange program. However, not all of the support people at Canon seemed to be aware of this program.
