Outdoor running is much better in terms of loosing weight. Since the ground is not flat your body is working harder compared to running on flat ground. Try this.. next time you run on the tredmill set the incline up a little bit and see if you can still run the same distance without getting tired. You can't, Thats because your using more power to run. Using more power you enables you to burn more fat and keep your heart rate up. I use to run inside because i hated running outside. but a few months ago I started running outside and I love it now. Once you give it a try you'll grow into it and like it.

Both are effective. In terms of training and losing weight treadmill offers variety of methods. But it becomes so monotonous that people quit easily. So an alternative is mixing up both. Take one on treadmill and one day outdoor.

Either way they should both aide in losing weight if you are on a regimen, where you keep doing it at least 3 times a week...The only problem with running outdoors is running on concrete is really rough on the knees.over time.............On a treadmill that is a rubber surface, much easier on the knees and feet...Running on grassy surface, well just better than concrete.

heard that outdoor running is better. treadmills can't be compared. it has something to do with resistance. like when you are running on a treadmill you only have to pick up your feet, but when you are running outside you have to pick up and push. heard that distance run on a treadmill is equal to half of that run outdoors. so 2 miles on a treadmill=1 mile outdoors.

Outdoor running is much better. You get distracted by the birds, and the trees so your mind is busy admiring nature, you won't get bored and you won't be so self conscious about your breathing, your tiredness, etc. Besides you will be breathing fresh air. Run in a park with lots of trees.

Neither is MORE effective. The treadmill was easier on my body as far as impact was concerned. It was much harder on my feet and legs to do the same thing on the ground.

If you run outdoors, you get more exercise due to the fact that the ground isn't completely flat. You have to go up small inclines even if you don't realize it.

When boredom, depression, or even stress causes cravings, find a nonfood way in order to meet them such as taking a walk, calling a friend, going for a bath, reading a book, or perhaps doing some yoga.
