Besides a good haircut, try using some of the leave-in conditioners, like Thermasilk Straight & Smooth.

Get a trim every 8 weeks, this will get rid of most split ends.

Try using a smoothing serum (like GlowTrix or a similar product) in conjunction with a ceramic straightener. Many people argue that straightening and blow drying causes split ends, but I've never had any problems with this.
I have found that brushing my hair causes more split ends than blow drying. If you find the same, try using a lot of conditioner - ON THE TIPS of your hair, NOT the roots - and gently brush your hair in the shower

Another option is to do a hair mask every now and then (a leave in conditioning "face mask" for your hair).

P.S. It's worth spending a little extra money on a good brand ceramic straightener (one that gets quite hot will smooth a lot better). Also, when straightening your hair, flip your head upside down and use a paddle brush in conjunction with the straightener. Get as close as you can to the roots with the straightener. I have found this gets the best results.

Wearing your hair up makes the problem worse,it breaks hair off and makes the ends split easily. Rubberbands, even if they are the cloth kind are your enemy. I agree with the others a trim is going to help your split ends. If smooth and silky hair is what you want try a flat iron, it smooths out frizzy hair really well with minimal damage.( The more porcelin surface you have on a flat iron the better) most from wal-mart and walgreens and such have more ceramic in the surface.

My hair is extremely frizzy (because it is curly) as well. Here is what you should do.
First, get a hair cut to rid your hair of all split ends.
Second, if you are a monotonous blow-dryer like I once was, STOP BLOW DRYING. I know that concept seems unreachable because I though so I one time too. But if you let your hair air dry almost completely dry and then blow dry it styled for less than a minute, it will decrease your split ends.
Lastly, use Farouk's Silk Therapy. I have tried every frizz hair serum and this works the best. I usually get it at Costco.

Hope this works. Enjoy :)

I had the same problem. I bought something called Olive Oil - Organic Root Stimulator - extra rich for dry, thirsty hair. I bought it at Walgreens buy the products for damaged or African American Hair. I am white by the way and it did help my hair a lot.

first of all you need to look at what hair type you have is your hair oily/dry/thick/thin? you have to consider these factors before you use any hair product and you have to stick with it as well, its important that you dont keep switching products becuase hair is very fragile and it will be prone to more damage if you switch from product to product.i would first of all go and book an appointment with the hair dressers for a cut preferably to get all the dry ends cutt off so that new hair growth is healthy (you need to have regular trims)then from there i would use a good decent shampoo and conditioner preferably for dry/damaged hair and then before i blow dry my hair i would use heat defense styling spray to protect my hair from the heat and then blow dry my hair straight ,then you can style as you desire .the best products i would recoomend would be the "treseme" range of products as my hair is thick and can get dry very quickly , it is by far the best range of products i have used .hope that helps xxx

some ppl say use eggwhites, i dont agree since that would be a waste of eggs & kinda gross, just use plenty of conditioner & after u take a shower, keep combing ur hair about every 10 minutes before it has a chance to dry & become frizzy. dont tie ur hair so often since that gives it extra curls & frizziness. if u need to tie it up, tie ur hair up loosely. dats my advice & it works plenty for me. try it out. it may take a week or 2 before u notice the dramatic change

^like she said frizz ease works really well, as well as straighening serum. When i let my hair air dry i usually like to braid it when it's wet and leave the braid in for a few hours, or what works best overnight. I take a shower before i go to sleep, braid it, then sleep on it. In the morning i take it out of the braid and my hair is really tamed and wavy, all I have to do is put the fizz ease, or hair spray in it for fly-aways and frizz. Sometimes if my hair gets to poofy when i take it out, or after i blow dry it I put it back in a pony tail, then add two or three more ponytails in different spots of my hair. This way when i take it out in ten minutes, or so, before i leave for school, or what not, its alot less poofy. Hope this helped (:

For the damaged endes you might have to cut it. But for the frizzy ends all I can say is get a perm of course unless you are white.
