Plan to BBQ pork ribs. Should I boil or bake the ribs first before putting them on the grill?

The best are rubbed with spices and placed over charcoal. Wait to put the sauce on. The sauce will burn to your ribs. Put the sauce on right before eating. Baste a few times when turning to warm up sauce. If you don't have time to cook them over charcoal BAKE first. Baking makes them tender. Boiling can toughen them up. Yummy now I'm hungry. thanks

Guaranteed great results .. best you will have ever tried, if you have the tools and equipment. Cut the ribs up into small enough sizes to go into a pressure cooker. Put in enough water to just start to cover the ribs and seal the pressure cooker and let cook for 14 minutes after the pressure indicator starts rocking. Let the steam pressure release the normal way then cover the ribs in your favorite sauce and place them on the grill long enough to put some crust on them. Don't go much longer than 14 minutes for if you go 20 the meat will fall off the bones before you can get them out of the pressure cooker.

I've tried boiling and slow cooking. I like the slow cooking better. You use a dry rub, wrap them in foil, and bake them at about 200 degrees for 4 to 5 hours, then to the BBQ. What this pre-cooking does is melt the collagen in the meat, which makes the meat very tender and falls off the bone. If you just go straight to the grill, your rib meat won't be very tender.

Start with a complete section of "Baby Back Ribs", Preheat the oven to 275 to 300. You will be SLOW COOKING the slab. Preheat (high) a skillet with olive oil - I use OTTAVIO (brand name) Extra Virgin Olive oil with Roasted Pepper (adds to the favor). Once the skillet is hot, add Fajita Spice (Hill Country Fare) and Coarse Ground Pepper to the skillet. Sear the spices into the meat, your not cooking the slab but sealing in the favor. This keeps the juices/favor from escaping during cooking. This should be done to all sides and ends. Should not take more than a minute or so. Remove the slab and place it on a oven pan with aluminum foil - you will be completely "sealing" the slab in the aluminum foil to cook. Cook at 275 to 300 degrees for about 1 to 1.5 hours. Remove the slab from the oven. If the slab has cooked enough so the bones are showing, then remove the aluminum foil so the slab can brown. If not keep cooking the slab covered. This will take about 3/4 to 1 hour. Do not over cook. Remove and add your favorite BBQ sauce.

I remember a recipe that suggested that you BBQ them a bit first and finish them off in a slow cooker with a bit of sauce; make sure that the sauce is not too sweet or it might burn before the ribs are completely done.

Honesty, the best ribs i've EVER had came from slow smoking them over about 5 hours in a water smoker. If you have the patience to wait that long for them then I HIGHLY suggest doing so. They will litterally fall off the bone they'll be so tender!

Do enjoy!!!!!!

It really depends on what you like. the best thing to do first is to let them marinite first in a sauce. then put them on the grill. that way they will be nice and juicy
