Even though we live in the heart of New York City, a mile and a half from Korea-town, I still can't find any dolls for my daughter that are ethnically Korean, other than expensive display knick-knacks. Even generic "Asian" dolls are thin on the ground. Any suggestions?

There are several websites that sell multicultural products and toys, especially geared for adopted kids. You could try http://www.storesonline.com/site/480020/page/536592

You might want to try Environments Inc. They are an educational supply company. They carry supplies, toys, and activity sets for infant day cares all the way to school age. I've seen in several of their catalogs Asian dolls and even Asian doll house families, I'm not sure about Korean specifically, but you might want to check it out. Their website is www.eichild.com Good luck.

1. See a family lawyer. 2. Your state probably has specific guidelines for the contact that must be made with the bio-father to terminate his parental rights. A certified letter will go out to his known address(es) and an ad in the newspaper thought to be local to him, in the legal notices section. Your daughter's identity will be protected. The ad will say something like, "To John Jones and any other putative father of S. Smith, daughter of Rebecca A. Smith, born January 1, 2007 at Fairview Hospital. A petition is now on file for termination of parental rights..." 3. He has a certain amount of time to answer. If he does not answer, the petition can go forward without his consent. Or, perhaps he will willingly sign over his rights. 4. If you know how to get in touch with him, the decent thing to do is to contact him directly first, explain your husband wants to adopt your daughter, and ask if he will sign the papers to make this possible.Tell him it will wipe out his child support obligation, and it's not like he couldn't still visit if he wished to do so -- just give you a call if he's going to be around.

I hope you don't try to push her ethnicity on her. If you love her and care for her as your own, race doesn't even need to be an issue. I grew up with a white father and a black mother, I had dolls of all colors, books about various races of children, and never once did I think it odd that my parents didn't "match" and I didn't match either one of them. They loved the heck out of me, and I loved the heck out of them. They were my mother and father, not my white man and black lady. As it should be for her.

Let her be a kid - please. Love her and let that other stuff come later. Don't point out her differences already.

Try the french dollmaker Corolle Dolls. They have very pretty dolls. My daughter's African American Dolls come from them. They have one named Calin Yang that is Asian.
