B vitamins are great (they're in bananas), also eat fish, good for your memory. I've also heard gingko biloba (an herb) is good for mental ability. When you study, record the information in different ways in your mind. When you read it, also read it out loud; that way, you hear it as well. You should also write it out (or use a keyboard) and read it back to yourself out loud. This works.

Medication isn't usaully the best idea. It would be far more benificial to set yourself up on a schedual. In college I'd study for 20 to 45 minutes and take a break, also eating carbohydrates help.
