I'm not talking about seeing a woman bfing in public. I'm talking about women who have babies and will not breastfeed them because of the 'ick' factor. I understand so many reasons for not bfing but this one bugs me (so I only want to hear answers regarding the 'ick' factor and nothing else). I just have a problems with this because breastfeeding is why we have these, isn't it?

I know that it is definitely the sexual issue and I can't understand why women can't get past it. I was really, really hoping to hear from someone who does feel this way and explain to my why they can't get over it and use them for the purpose God meant for them intead of just playthings for men.
True, everyone has a right to decided to bf or not, whatever reason they choose. It is just that I want someone to try to convice me that I should empathize with this particular issue.

I think people who say they don't want to breastfeed because its "icky" are just uneducated...They need to go take a class and educate themselves about breastfeeding...I'm not gonna lie I was one of those people before and while I was pregnant, I was more nervous then grossed out though..Growing up I never really knew any mothers that breastfed so I had no clue about anything...I decided I wanted to breastfeed after I educated myself about the subject. I think alot of people who say its "icky" are probably looking at it in a sexually way which it is "icky" to think that way...we have breasts for the soul purpose to feed our babies...just my opinion.

I am not a woman so I don't exactly know what it's like for you ladies. I will give you a man's point of view on it though. I think it is a perfectly natural thing for women to breast feed. I feel that if a woman decides not to feed because it's "icky", then that's her decision, but she may be impacting the health of her baby. I know there are a lot of scientific studies out there to suggest that brest-fed babies grow up healthier and smarter. Perhaps these women should look into a breast pump or something, that way the baby still has the nutritional benefit of the breast milk and the woman has less of an "ick factor". That's my opinion as a single guy with no children.

This bugs me too. I don't know why women and people in general react this way to breastfeeding. Breast milk is the best you can give your child and you would think that women would be able to rise above the "ick" factor for the well being of their child. If they just gave it a try they might realize that its not "ick" at all.

i breast fed both of my boys (9 & 5) for their first year and a half of life and i NEVER had any "icky" feelings. this question has always been a big one for me, too! i do understand that since there is the option not to breast feed it's a womans right to not do it... no matter the reasoning behind it. BUT! it is the healthiest and most loving thing you can do for your child, IMO. i do know a few people who have decided against it and it seems like they're just too concerned about always having to whip their breasts out at any given time to feed their babies. too invasive for them maybe...? they already grew them and birthed them and they want to leave it at that...? i dunno'... this will always stump me! while i do know that a bottle fed baby can properly bond with it's Mama i feel that nursing is a super intimate thing that only a Mama and baby can participate in and i loved that feeling. nursing is actually one of the few things i miss about my boys growing up. there is the sexual over tone also...i'm sure there are a select few who can't seperate the 2 and that's unfortunate. on the other end of the scale there are the women who "breast feed" their kids til they are 5!!! WTF?! too much of a good thing can be bad! bottom line... to each there own

I have 3 young boys, the youngest is 3 months old. I breastfeed them all ranging from period of 2 months to 3 months. During this period, your nipple is sore and in worse cases, they crack and bleed. Plus, your breast is lecking most of the times, and it is full with milk making your feel like they have turn into stones and are going to explode!
These are all the things you would experience but breastmilk is good for babies, thus we mums are willing to do it.

Probably bc society in general and the media in general have always portrayed women's breasts more as sexual than functional so when a woman is child bearing she cannot see using her breast for it's one true purpose and it is so sad bc breastfeeding is a wonderful thing and the most natural in all creation..

I understand you. that's a extensive (no longer that extensive) project over right here in Sweden. men get slightly sexy via that and that i understand which you men do no longer desire to fancy approximately toddlers like that. So yeah, mom's ought to appreciate others and cover their breast.

Y'know, that's a good question. It's the reason for breasts and it's a natural thing and they think it's "icky"??
That's gonna bug me now.

maybe because their partner sucked on their nipples alot and now when they think about their nipples being sucked, they think about the baby's daddy sucking on them. and it's just a sexual thing. who knows.
