My fiance and I are moving to the Washington DC area and are looking for an apartment. I claimed bankruptcy a year ago, and have a tax lein against me. My fiance has very good credit. Both of us need to be on the lease and they are doing a credit check for both of us. We make enough money for the apartment. Could my bad credit keep up from getting this apartment?

That is at the leasing companies discretion. They may just check to see if you are who you say you are.

Your bad credit might keep you from getting the apartment. The time to ask that question would have been before you signed the rental application and agreed to let them run a credit check.
