One of the biggest reasons is that so few Americans understand science. You refer to "educated people" without mentioning that a person can be highly educated in one or a few subjects and totally ignorant of all others. Physicians, for instance, would have us believe they are among the most highly educated people in civilized society, when in fact a surgeon is a very highly trained technician and diagnostician and nothing more. A PhD engineer is very highly trained in some areas but entirely daft when it comes to most topics outside his/her narrow area of specialty.
The problems arise when these people, and those of lesser academic credentials, attempt to profess expertise in all areas. A PhD and professor of engineering of my acquaintance tried to convince me his opinion of history was superior to mine, yet by the time of that particular discussion, he'd had exactly four credit hours as an undergrad in history while I had twenty such credits in history and civics but none in engineering. Without intending to ignite a row of straw men, I offer that in my personal experience, this sort of misunderstanding and miscommunication occurs fairly often.
So: is it really any surprise that there are a goodly number of well-trained people who accept Christianity? They don't know any better. Humans also have rather fragile egos. You know yourself how you hate to find yourself in error, and how at times you struggle with your temper when someone points out your error. We don't like to be seen as fools, and many of us will go to great lengths to defend our position/opinion even in light of overwhelming evidence that we're wrong. History is full of stories of people who fought to the death rather than admit they were wrong, despite knowing they were wrong!
For others, it was/is just plain fear. Many Christians have convinced themselves - wrongly - that without God there is no incentive to be good. A good many men have told researchers and pollsters that although they personally don't believe all this stuff about Jesus, religion is important in keeping OTHERS in line.
So you see: the answer to your question cannot be a simple statement that applies to every Christian. In order to win hearts and minds, we who disagree with them must do our best not to descend to the level of an Ann Coulter. Instead, we must treat them with dignity and respect while standing our ground regarding our differences with them.

Wrong, the first law of thermodynamics has already proven that man cannot create light out of nowhere. The teachings of the bible, while often misinterpreted, are true. Science has proven and reproved many of them. Why can't educated people fallow that which is unseen. There are many things that happen everyday that science can't explain, yet are happening. Furthermore those things predicted in the bible millenniums ago are coming to pass concerning the last days. We are in them!
Just watch the news, there's the proof.

Is it possible that God created the first law? I consider myself to be a thinker and enjoy education very much, yet I do not follow the teachings of the Bible "blindly." Light is released by energy, and I happen to think my God has quite a bit of that.

When a scientist can create a radish seed, then maybe I'll exam my beliefs more deeply. But until then...
And if you're curious as to why I choose a radish seed...
It's small and black. You put it in the ground. Next comes green stalks. You pull the green stalks and there is a red bulb. Cut the bulb open and it's white. Science cannot create a seed that can produce anything similar.
The analogy is that many things occur that do not have a "scientific" explanation.

Good point! Nothing can create light out of nowhere.... So where does the light we enjoy today come from? If nothing can create light and light exists? Then there must be something or someone who created light BUT is not understood by science.
Science can only explain half of what exists or what not. There will always be things unexplainable through scientific means.

Science has never proving that God didn't create everything. You cant get something from nothing, can you? Think about the human body do you think things all just fell into place just the way they are? The chance of everything happening and working the way it does like :your eyes, heart, brain, kidneys etc, only a divine intervention could have put this all together. There is no other way... just by chance, I DONT THINK SO.....

Because some people are blind or believe in their faith which is the same thing as being blind to me. I dont understand how people can believe in a book written by MEN so feverently. And some of the things written in that book(the bible case u were wondering) would make mother goose jealous. And if that book is so wonderful why dont they follow it to the letter. If they did they would break alot of laws our government have in place. So if any one can explain that please do.

Science asks questions. Faith answers questions. And many people prefer answers to questions.
And, for all intents and purposes, their religious book of choice *works* for them. Or, at least, the parts they choose to pay attention to works for them.
This is not behavior limited to Bible readers; you'll find this manner of thinking in just about every religion out there.

Bible based religions are dying.
That's the primary reason you see them trying to increase their numbers by evangelizing amongst ignorant, uneducated people.
The more educated a populace becomes, the less they rely on superstition.
The universe has always existed, it was not created and will never end.
