I am partial to Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-aware. These have worked well for me. Others will probably give you different places to go. It's a personal preference and which one ends up working the best for you.

There are 2 anti spy ware or anti ad ware programs that I really like a lot. The first one is completely free for private use, that is Ad-Aware SE Personal by Lava Soft. This program is amazing at removing all Critical Objects and any other spy or ad ware that you may have picked up.
The second program is Spy Sweeper by Webroot, and they offer a free 30 day trial. This program not only gets rid of anything that you might have picked up, but it also gives you real time monitoring, so you won't pick up any new spy or ad ware in the future.
I highly recommend both of these products. You will never have to worry about any spy or ad ware ever messing up and slowing down your computer ever again.
You should down load both of them, and see for yourself how amazing these products work.
Good Luck

Check out Ad-Aware SE. It is one of the best Anti Spyware/Adware applications out there. It is 100% free for personal use. As a computer tech, I install it on every machine I fix or build. You can download your copy from http://www.download.com/
Just copy and paste Ad-Aware SE into the search box at the site. If you like it, there is also an upgraded version called "Plus" that is quite inexpensive and has real-time protection from new infections.

Spybot S&D. It's definately the best spyware removal program on the internet. I've tried other programs, and they didn't work. Make sure that you don't get a fake program. Others are called Spybot, but they require registration and money. Here's the link:

Don't forget to update it once a week. Most updates come out on Friday or Saturday.

Yahoo Toolbar comes with an anti-spyware utility. Download and install the toolbar and run that utility.
Also try lavasoft adaware program. The basic version is free.

Try Ad-Aware and Spybot. They are both free and Will not ask you to buy anything. Why both? they use different approaches, and complement each other nicely.

go to cnet.com they will list 5 or 6 different kinds, and give you a spot to download them. Ad-Aware works well.
