I've read on the internet about using a lemon & water spray to kill fleas in combination with sprinkling garlic powder on their food. Anyone who has tried these, please let me know the results because Frontline and Advantage have both failed me and I'm tired of putting pesticides on my cats.

Eucalyptus oil can be helpful in repelling fleas for a short while, but would need to be applied to the cat on a daily basis and your cat would really hate you for it.
I tried brewer's yeast in the food and my cats could smell it and would not touch it!
There is a product called Revolution that kills fleas, certain types of worms, and helps prevent ear mites, but it is a pesticide and is used just like Advantage. That might work for you where other things have failed. And if Frontline and Advantage have failed, I doubt that any natural remedies are going to be very helpful to you.

Really there is nothing that is of any real good to repel fleas, except the stuff that your vet will sell you. I know it costs a lot but you must also spray the house where the pet sleeps too and everywhere it has been as fleas jump everywhere.
For every flea that you find on your cat there are 200 eggs in your house! Flea eggs just waiting to hatch in your carpet bedding, sofa etc! Get the spray from your vet for your home and for the cat, and apart from that, your vacuum cleaner is your best friend! Vac every corner in the house, under the cushions everywhere to keep the fleas down.
I was in the cat protection for YEARS and have had a lot of cats and kittens through my house.
the reason you have not got rid of the fleas is probably because you have not treated your house

I don't know if it will work to kill the fleas, but it is does as a preventitive. I use brewer's yeast, also called nutritional yeast. I sprinkle a heaping teaspoon on my cat's food every other day. She always used to get fleas, but since I started using it..... not one. You can find it at your local health food store or natural store. I have no idea how it works, but it is awesome!! My cat's fur is also very nice and soft now too. Added bonus!
