i live in louisiana and there is a retaining pond behind our house and its about 75-100 yds wide. how am i able to tell if there are fish in it? and if so how can i tell what kind

You could use a drag net. Use a small mesh one and drag the pond. Any fish that would be in the net would be a sure sign that you have fish in the pond. The other way would be to bait a hook with live bait and see what happens. Who knows. You might be surprised to find out what you have in the pond. Good luck.

Umm... go look in the pond. Compare fish in fond to pictures of fish in book to figure out what kind.

The best way is to walk around the edges of the pond. If there are fish in it you will see minnows darting around the edges as you walk by.

Watch around the edge in the shallow water closely. You might be able to see some little fish.

try to go fishing in it, lol

you should be able to tell by whether or not there are any bubbles that come to the top of the water.

well get yourself a book on fish species unless your already good with that then throw a line in the water and see what you come up with.
