They want to be in constant communication with God. Do you talk to your friends just once and then ignore them the rest of the week? Of course not. Muslims, Christians, Jews, and probably nearly any religious group all consider their God their friend.

First off, they pray to Allah. Second, they do it because the Quaran says to.
