It's actual not very effective in the long term. Once you start eating carbs again, you gain weight back faster than you lost it. You absolutely need carbs for energy. It's the starchy carbs like potatoes that can cause weight gain, but if you're training for a marathon, you need all the carbs you can get (while staying below a 2000 or 2500 calorie diet) in order to maintain a healthy body weight. You'll just be burning all the carbs off again. It's actually easier to burn carbs than some might think. Eat lots of protein and healthy carbs to keep in tip-top shape for a marathon.

Guess what Dr. Atkins died from? HEART disease, and there has been too much proof over the years that fat is bad for you. It is one of the most ridiculous diets ever! Also, too much protein is hard on the kidneys, and especially for diabetics.

just eat the basic fruits and vegis. atkins doesnt work at all and their spaghetti noodles SUK!! I MEAN YOU CANT EVEN SLURP THEM!!!
