What is the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition?

All I know is that it's run by Jesse Jackson. But what exactly do they do or stand for? Serious answers please.

I have known some to believe that it is a "shakedown" organization that attampts to extort money from companies before it or resorts to calls of racism.
