Well, there are the 2 main tribes that are still around, Ephriam and Menassah, and the other 10 are/were "lost".
There aren't too many decendants from the other 10 that I'm aware of, but they are still out there. The whole "gathering of Israel" thing is supposed to be when the other 10 make themselves known and re-unite with the other 2.
Hopefully I've made sense and at least partially answered your question.

10 of the 12 Tribes revolted and separated from the remaining two. The ten tribes formed the 'Northern Kingdom' of Israel, the 2 tribes (Judah & Benjamin) the 'Southern Kingdom of Judah (where we get the word Jew). The ten tribes were conquered by the Assyrians, and were dispersed by them. The king of the Assyrians brought in 5 other conquered peoples to live in that country, and deported the Israelites among these same five nations. They became assimilated into these other peoples and are now 'lost'.

They don't know were the 12 tribes Israel are and neither does anybody else. They were scattered and they have been blinded because of unbelief. Acts 8: 1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Romans 11: 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. God will deal with the Nation of Israel again during the tribulation period when He pours out His wrath on the earth. Salvation for a Jew is the same as it is for all people, they must believe that The Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins on the cross.. Galatians 3: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

The Jews aren't really interested in the various other tribes of Israel. They are the Tribe of Judah. The other tribes aren't really lost as they are those who have populated the rest of the world having moved into the far reaches of the earth. The only part that is lost is the tribal name that is to be associated with each ethnic group. The tribes are listed in the Bible in Genesis chapter 49 where Jacob pronounces his blessing to each of his sons.

There were 12 tribes of Israel. 10 were lost. Modern Jews are decendants of remaining 2 tribes.

Yes there are twelve tribes. As for where they are, scattered among the nations. And most likely some from each tribe have made it back to Israel already.

Yes there are twelve tribes for the twelve sons of Jacob. Now there are eleven lands. The Levites have no land because they are the priests. However I don't know if they still go by it, but they did in the Bible.

The tribes are not set places. They were justpeople who did different things for God. They were allowed to intergrate and did, so it would be impossible to track the down.
