Writing an appreciation letter to the local Police, Fire and Ambulance Stations?
I want to write a complimentary letter to my local Police, Fire and Ambulance Stations... I need to keep it short and I want it to be the best ever yet so it can always be remembered. I'm a teenager and as I see it a thank-you letter is rarely sent by youth these days. I really respect them for what they do and I want to let them know that. I see them driving by but I don't want to disturb them to say 'Hi'. Sometimes I'll see them at a store and ask for an autograph, they seem very surprised yet proud. So, if there is anything someone can help me with, I'd really appreciate it. I'm a good writer but this means a lot to me. I'm an artist, I also want to draw the patrol car along with it. Thank-you.

scottythecomic: I won't blame you for your answer. Where I live the Police Department is very dedicated and are always there. They are a very dependable team of people who encourage youth to the right path and care about the community. Maybe it's not like this where you live but please think about what they go through each day to protec you...

ganja_claus: When you've seen people like the police helping in the community all the time when you're a kid. You usually grow up to be their well-wisher. I just admire their integrity and courage... it's a bit hard to ignore respect.

Thanks. I wrote the letter and now I need to draw the patrol car... once I'm done I'm going over to the Department to hand it over. Someone asked me what I'd like in return from them. I said "If I could just make ONE Police Officer look down at me and smile, I've got all I ever needed." And that is my goal. I hope I achieve it :)
Sorry, I can't choose a best answer b/c they're all perfect and helpful in a way. Thank-you once again.

Yeah well, its all pretty complicated and you are just confused.
Some people like you live it out and others try and hide that they are gay and turned on by uniforms.

I think that writing a letter to your police department is a great idea. Police Officers are very rarely thanked for the things that they doe. Alot of peole disrespect the police and think that they are just out there to cause the law biding citizens grief and to harrass people. But the truth is that if someone was breaking into those peoples homes at 3 am who are they going to call? The Police, The Police take great risks all the time with their own lives and are never respected for there work they do. Police Officers hope that everyday at the end of their day they will go home and kiss their children goodnight. I think in you letter you should thank them for always being there in a momnets need and think them for keeping your town safe. Thank them for being Proactive in the community and educating the children. A Police Officers job is a one of a kind. I am happy that you are one of those people who knows how hard our job really is. As far as the Fireand Ambulance goes/ Their work goes hand in hand with the police they take some great risks with their lives daily. When people are running from a burning building your firefighters are running in. Kinda crazy huh? Well thats what they do they risk their lives to save yours. Just put something like that in your letter letting them know that you understand that and appreciate that they would do something like that for you and anyone. God Bless You

I thought of sending a letter once because of the courtesy shown while being transfered one evening. They work many hours and many difficult situations. I'm sure they would be pleased to get some good news for once. A picture would be a plus!

by all means write the letter and from your intro. you shouldn't need any help. Good luck and what a great idea. You are right, there is way too little appreciation coming from people our age these days.

I think they will shoot you on sight! Then they will divvy up your donuts and ravenously gobble them up. After that they will cut your corpse up and cook it in a big metal couldron that every police station has and turn you into the best damn broth that police station ever had!

As i am a volunteer firefighter i do this work for free. When we recieve these letters i look at them as payment for the job. Its tough waiking up at three in the morning to drag a person to the hospital and then go to your normal day job at six. Thanks for thinking of us.

Have your letters and art framed professionally and take them to the stations personally.

They will more than likely hang them up where everyone will see them daily. They will appreciate this more than you know.

You just wrote it, does not sound as though you need any help.

Best wishes.
