DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE THAT SAY ITS NOTHING!! bring your vehicle to a dealer and have it checked out. yes it could be what "some" consider nothing - a loose fuel cap can cause a SES light(thats what they consider nothing) but we have also had problems with water intrusion into the C200 connector under the vehicle which can cause antilock brake failure and engine no start or engine stall conditions. bring it in to get serviced and let a profesional decide.

It may not be a serious problem. My mechanic said that when the service engine light comes on, the car's computer is putting out the error codes that a diagnostic computer needs to see what the prolem is. If you take your vehicle somewhere to that has a diagnostic computer, they can tell you what the problem is.

It is a catch all for a number of potential issues....some more major than others. By any chance, did the light come on after you filled the tank up with gas?

It means you need to take it to a service shop who will check it out...... most likely they will just hit the reset button and turn the light off..... either live with it or pay the money to turn it off, at any rate the cars not going to blow up.....

It's usually something to do with the exhaust system/emissions.

It's seldom a serious problem, but you should probably get it looked at soon.
