The two I hear most often on the bagpipes are Amazing Grace and Scotland the Brave.

If it's a slow, almost mournful song, it's Amazing Grace...a really beautiful hymn with very inspiring words. It's often played at highly emotional events (like funerals).

Scotland the Brave is a joyful energetic march.

Amazing Grace

There are so many bagpipe songs it's not even funny.
To even guess which one is "commonly played" is as absurd as saying "what's that song that's commonly played on guitar?"
SO instead of trafficing in stereotypes, i want to say listen for the best bagpipe solo in rock, in AC/DC's "It's A Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)".

Probably "Amazing Grace". There is an old saying that goes, "A gentleman is someone who knows how to play the bagpipes...but doesn't."

During the news hour or in Scotland when you think of it? If it is Scotland, then it is Scotland the Brave. Otherwise here, the police and fire department play Amazing Grace and awful lot.

Most often it's Amazing Grace...at least that's what you'll hear in the U.S. Another common song would be Scots Wha' Hae, which is the Scottish anthem.
