I am going to be honest. I am white, in my 50's and have lived through the time when interracial couples were forbidden, into the current time. About 20 years ago, I used to be on call in my job with a black man and we got looks just driving down the street in the same car. I personally know interracial couples. But my reaction when I see them is a hurt in my heart, maybe almost sympathy because contrary to what some people say, it's a tough road for them. If they don't have children it's easier. Some friends right now are separated, he is black, she is white and they have 3 kids - guess what - it's the old stereotypical problem - the kids don't seem to belong anywhere. We live in suburbia and there are many different races in the schools and grocery stores, but they aren't mixed. It's idealistic to say you don't care what others think, but other's perception of us is what makes us get along and get on in life.

I have no problem with an interracial couple, myself. I know there are lots of older people that do and I think it's because that was what they were taught growing up.
What DOES worry me a little is any children that can come from an interracial couple. I'm not saying they shouldn't have children. Not at all! What worries me is that the children are usually "in-between" in terms of skin color and this can make it hard for them to identify themselves as a certain race. I have neighbors whose children had this problem growing up. They just don't feel like they fit in.
Still, if the parents are aware of possible issues like this, then I welcome any and all couples and their children!

To be honest, it sometimes takes me by surprise just to see interracial couples but I always admire them..I think it takes a lot of courage to stand up for love and then a little more courage to stand up for love outside of your own race...
