Stamped on...???
The culprit was M&M/Mars's parent company, Mars, Inc., whose paranoia is the stuff of legend. Mars's response to the most innocuous inquiry, even from schoolchildren, is that the information is "confidential." The $6 billion firm is privately held, publishes no annual report, and refuses all interview requests from the press. Interestingly, the main office is located in McLean, Virginia, a short distance from the headquarters of the CIA. I'm not saying there's a connection, but you have to wonder.

A process similar to off set printing. Special machines calibrated so that the thin layer of candy does not break.

It is printed on. They go thru a machine that coats them with the candy coating, drys it and last step before mixing and packaging is printing the logo on them.

I just saw these at a wedding! Isn't that extraordinary? Initially the bride told me they have these teams of retired ladies with little tiny pens, but then she 'fessed up and said they are air-brushed with food-coloring!
