It was indeed Billy McNeill of Celtic in May 1967. The first British team to lift the European Cup, and in those days only the champions of each league were allowed entry, not all and sundry.
Incidentally, this team were all from within 30 miles of Glasgow, therefore the only all native team ever to win it. Before that it was always Spanish and Italian teams riddled with each others nationalities and also Hungarian, Brazilian, and Eastern Europeans.
