DON`T! If you have other chickens, they will kill her, because she looks different. If you only have her,you have 2 choices..either leave her alone and let the bone heal by itself of take her to a vet and have the vet cast her leg.If you let her heal by herself, she may heal oddly, but she WILL heal.If you take her to the vet, you can expect to pay upwards of $200.00. You will STILL have to isolate her from the other chickens either way, and you may need to hand feed her and keep water close by.Bless your heart...you must be a loving person,I think that`s wonderful.. From my heart....to yours. : )

You won't want to put it in a sling...put it in a splint. If it is broken low on the bird, between the foot and the feathers, you can use a stick, like a popcicle stick and wrap it in tape...then take her to a vet that is trained in barn animals.

Hey!! This person DOESN'T want her to kill her birds, so quit being idiots! You'd want to wrap it firmly and stabilize it so it can't move. However, avoid cutting off circulation as the feet are where all the blood vessels are located. Keep her in one place separated from others. Food and water close by. Then check her every once in a while and hope for the best.

You may have to amputate the leg, if you can't find a vet to do it. I had to do that with a canary once. It's not difficult even if you have no medical training but I'm not sure who was more traumatized, me or the bird. (He lived and is doing very well)
Good luck!

if the hen is healthy then you do not need to worry, she can go without a leg, but in this case you have to be watchful about the predators.

A vet told me this couldn't be done but our bird survived w. hand feeding/drinking and sitting on the nest for a few days.
