Because it's the Truth and it convicts them that they are sinners. I still am convicted when reading different passages and I've been a struggling Christian for 12 years. God's Word itself says that people will despise the Word. I think too, that people see it as "narrow minded." They don't want to believe that salvation is through Christ alone and that they can do nothing to achieve it. That only Christ can choose whom to save and whom to condemn.

Instead of dictating a so called given as truth by your faith which may be nonsense: show me. Give me examples. Help that little old lady across the street. Stop social injustice. Be a good neighbor. Why is it truth? It is not the so called word of God that is so much upsetting as the mouths that it comes from. Bigots and zealots who claim that it is "their way or the highway" is mind control gibberish.

It is a false assumption on some Christian's part that the founding forefathers were in fact Christian. Most of them were deist not theist. What do they teach in school today? IN GOD WE TRUST is a motto adopted in the 1950's. Show me where it was our motto in 1776. The "God" referred to is the concept of God as an entity from the perspective of the individual not the government.

There is no, has never been and never will be a national GOD. We have Freedom of Church and State. The Christian who sees this motto and concludes that it refers to the Bible is making a huge false assumption based on no factual knowledge at all. A little bit of knowledge is always said to be dangerous.

I trust in God wholeheartedly

Some people get upset over the word of God simply because it is the truth. Generally people like to think they're right and if God's word is the truth then people aren't right about everything and that upsets them.

Because people claim to know what God wants when they are just trying to gain political points. It has a long history and isn't unique to Christianity. The problem is that 'God's word' can be interpreted in so many different ways that nobody really knows the right way. Of course, there is also the problem that no God actually exists and it is *all* made up by people wanting power over you.

The reason is because not everyone is going to think and believe exactly as you do. That's not a dis, it's a fact. And one of the most retarded statements ANY American can make is that all Americans believe in the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". Most people who fled from England fled because of religious persecusion, yes, However, alot of people fled because they didn't like the church at all. They didn't believe in God, and they were being forced to serve and comply to a government that told them how to think and how to worship. I'm glad that I'm not told what to think or how to believe. If in america, we were told we had to believe all the same way, or get out, we may as well be nazi Germany. They were pretty big about see it our way or get out, too.

The answer to both questions is quite simple. The ones who get so upset and don't trust in God can't handle the Truth.

I trust God.

Some people got upset because they misunderstand the word of God.

First question, people are like children, they want what they want and if the Bible says they shouldn't have it, they reject it. Second question, Many say they trust God, just like many say, have a nice day. Its a phrase without meaning. We know this by the number of religous Conservitives who wanted to war against the Taliban. They refused to trust God and rather by seeking to repair our own country we are embroiled in a very difficult war that had nothing to do with those who attacked us.

I'm not religous and don't believe in God. I couldn't care less. I don't go around pushing my beliefs on people. So I only get mad when people do it to me.

And you seem like that kind of person. The question if God exists or not is highly debatable.

I suggest you just worry about yourself and your religion and leave the rest of the people alone.

There is no reason to trust a God that hasn't shown himself.

It may be your truth, but that doesn't mean it's true for everyone. Perhaps the reason they get so upset is because they're tired of having others ram their religious beliefs down their throats.

Your faith, your beliefs, are deeply personal. Why feel the need to project them onto everyone else?

If you're an atheist, be an atheist. If you're a Christian, be a Christian. If you're a witch, be a witch. Just don't tell everybody else what they should believe.

Simply for the fact that is is the Truth. It's a lot easier for someone to tell a person a lie to make them feel good, even though they may know its not the truth. But the Truth is nothing one wants to hear...because its not always pretty. The truth can hurt and for that reason people don't like the truth.
