Take her to the SPCA now!!! They will help you free and maybe ask for a donation or something later, but you can't just leave her in labor because you can't afford a vet!! It's really not THAT expensive. And it's in the best interest of your kitty. She needs your help!!

Hi Cory

A neighbors cat was in labor here for a long time, don't recall how long but you can tell if it's true labor or not by the afterbirth, did she emit one? 2 kittens isn't unusual for a litter. Their cat had 6 first time litter and was terribly exhausted. If your cat is panting and straining, it's a problem, you need to get her help, most vets will take a payment plan because they want to help. Keep her still, in a warm but not too warm place, have a blanket or something for her to lay on, pet her to calm her, offer her water every so often and food too tho she may not eat for awhile.

Male cats do not always kill kittens, our neighbor had the male and female together the whole time, the male was the one who took over washing them and actually cutting the cords, then snuggling with them, it depends on the cat. The male is still very devoted to the cats, I have the 4 cats now lol, and sometimes I take them over to visit, he comes over and greets them washes faces etc he's mister dad lol.

If the cat is still truly in labor, then you need to at least call a vet and give advice. Its possible that she is only having 2 kittens...but if she is still acting like she's in labor and moaning in pain, then chances are she is still in labor. A decent vet will give you help over the phone. It's not wise to move her at this point... so don't do that unless the vet tells you to. You can also try the Humane Society, who will help for free or very low cost. Or call your local PETCO store and tell them your situation, and ask them for a referral to a vet that will help animals in need for free. They usually have great contacts.

We asked our vet ahead of time about potential problems for our cat delivering her babies. He told us not to worry about long labors because a cat can labor up to 36 hours between kittens. If they get upset for some reason, it takes longer. Good look. Our cat gave birth to 5 adorable babies.

Sometimes animals can stay in labor for a long time. Is she caring for the 2 already born? How can you tell she is still in labor?
If you do not have a regular vet you can call for advice, try your local SPCA or Humane Society. They may be able to give you advice about what (if anything) to do.

maybe you are reading your cats signals incorrectly

If calling a vet for advice doesn't help, look for the emergency vet in your area and take her there. I can't imagine they would turn away an animal in distress, if she indeed is.
