Reading 1
Wis 1:13-15; 2:23-24

God did not make death,
nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.
For he fashioned all things that they might have being;
and the creatures of the world are wholesome,
and there is not a destructive drug among them
nor any domain of the netherworld on earth,
for justice is undying.
For God formed man to be imperishable;
the image of his own nature he made him.
But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world,
and they who belong to his company experience it.

In the Eastern Rite Liturgy they sing out "Wisdom, let us be attententive". it tells the people of God that the words which are about to be read, are divinely inspired, and contains the wisdom in which to live a true christian life.

Death is, and remains the one area of our lives that we see, but cannot experiance till we ourselves are faced with it. It is a hard part of life, because it seperates us from those we love and care for. As the reading above shows us clearly...God did not create death...sin created death. So powerful is sin, that even our Lord, to save us from sin, had to die himself. But sin continues...to this very day. Thus because sin continue's then so does death. We are told that death will come to an end, but that will be when Christ come's for His people.
Will you be ready for Him to come?

Peace be with you.
