Responding to an obviously loaded question with a real answer...

To answer the original question, first, though: None. Duh.

Nobody's arguing that climate change doesn't happen on its own. However, greenhouse gasses, of which excessively polluting automobiles are one source, are aggravating that change - forcing it to happen much sooner than might happen ordinarily.

It's not especially the warming of the planet that's so alarming. It's the speed at which it's happening, and the effect it will have on society. We've built up a lot of the lands along the beaches of the world. And if the ocean levels do rise, much of that land will not be there. Or, rather, it will be there, it'll just have a bunch of water on top of it.

The caveman equivalent of an SUV was the woolly mammoth. So many affluent cavemen were flaunting their wealth by riding around on mammoths, that the methane exhaust from these monsters was screwing up the climate, but the shamans got together and instituted the Mammoth tax, which drove the beasts into extinction. Greedy corporations are now trying to clone new riding mammoths from frozen DNA, so they can market these wildly popular behemoths once again.

There were no SUV's. There was also a lot more going on than you know about, though, and if you think the Earth has been like it is now for billions of years without changing then you're not very smart. It's not a "cycle." Something physically interacts with our planet and causes these things to happen.

The Earth has gone through periods of warming and cooling many times. The difference this time is that the global warming we are seeing this time is attributed to the extra CO2 in the atmosphere, AND never in the past several million years has Earth ever warmed up this quickly. This is directly attributed to man. Get your head out of the sand and wake up before it is too late!!!!!

Ah, young lad...dare I presume that you are the owner of a Yuppie tank?! Indeed at the end of the last ice age and during the past global warming, it was naturally-occurring carbon dioxide from within the earth that facilitated the warming trend. Carbon dioxide is still mined from deep within the earth and placed into tanks for the folks who run your local A&W for their lovely, fizzy root beer. The same mined CO2 is tanked and sold to Applebee's and various and insundry restaurants that serve soft drinks and beer. Too bad the free-flowing CO2 in the air today can't be vacuumed up and tanked for sale to the restaurants...there certainly would be plenty of bubbles for drinks, eh?

If you wish to keep your Yuppie tank-mobile, how about converting it to hybrid power or methane power? There are plenty of websites to help you. I hope to soon convert my 40-mpg '92 Festiva to hybrid or methane power myself...just want to do my part so that we WON'T have to vacuum all the CO2 out of the air!

Fair question and point of view, but since we don't know how long that ice age lasted or how long it took to melt, then we don't know if we're melting the polar ice caps faster than normal, do we?

But, it's ridiculous to think that our pollution, clear cutting, over fishing, drilling, etc. is doing NOTHING to our environment.

If you consider the Dinosaurs SUV's, and their fuel being their own patties, then I guess, there were lots of SUV's around!
