If they were good and tried to practice and find truth, and never rejected the truth, yes they will go to heaven. But if they rejected truth when it came to them, no matter what religion, they will not go to heaven

Here's the thing about "Truth." It's pretty subjective. If there is only one way, and one truth, which of the multiple religions or spiritual systems out there is "The one truth"? Is it Christianity (because they say so, because Jesus died on the cross) ? Is it Judaism (because they say so, because they are God's chosen people)? Is it Islam (because they say so because Mohammed is the only true prophet of Allah)? Is it Buddhism (because they say so because the Buddha was the most enlightened being)?
I think the important thing is not finding "truth" in books that are written and taught by men (no matter how "inspired", these should be guideposts rather than the only path), but actually searching for a relationship with whatever higher being is out there for yourself. If you are truly searching, I think that God, or whatever you want to call the greater spiritual force, is going to lead you to Him/itself. Thinking that "Well I'm saved because I live by what preacher tells me is the way." Is not the way to find a higher spirituality...

Oh, and for everyone out there thumping on your Bibles, without going into too much detail about the history of the Christian church
A) realize, some people look at the Bible the same way they look at Greek mythology, and do not depend on it as "Fact" (in which case, your references to the Bible as your "proof" hold very little significance alone)
B) The canonical Bible (particularly the NT) is a grouping of books voted upon by a congress of (mortal) men, of which none was written less than 100 years after the events described in them. The texts that were actually written by the people that were there (Such as Peter, Judas, Jesus's siblings -yes Jesus had brothers and sisters; you don't think Mary and Joseph remained chaste forever, do you? They were married, people!)? Thrown away as heretical!
C) If you're reading your Bible in any other language than Roman-era Latin (for the New Testament books), or Pre-Jesus Hebrew (the Old Testament), large chunks of it are WRONG! The translations are imperfect, and the meanings of entire passages have been changed due to mis-interpretation of the phrases.

Jesus said, "I am the truth and the way, no man comes to the Father, but by me".
Jesus said, "Do not call me good, but only your Father in Heaven". When "good" is used to mean that a person always lives in the right we can only say that about God our Father! However, I do not want to sound over legalistic either!
This seems harsh, but God through out the ages has been calling men to Him in a real way. If they choose to follow other human teaching then the Son-of-God, then they run the risk on the day of Judgment. How God will judge is recorded in His word.
We cannot judge and if a person is a nice person then he may be a friend to you and open to discussion about their religion. ___You may both learn something!_____!

Religion has nothing to do with it.
Neither does being a good person. (Which by the way no one is).
The only way to heaven is to personally know Jesus.
John 14:6
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I am going to tell it the way non-christians hate it, because it is the truth. No you they would not go to heaven. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life, no one commeth to the father but by me." He came and died so that we may have eternal life with him in glory. The sins of man was so great that God was about to do away with us and Jesus decided to intercede on our behalf.
When you chose to deny God, and worship false gods set up by the devil to distract and divert you form the perfect will of God. Then you turn away people(christians) sent to guide your path, what more do you want him to do? He died for your sins, he sent messengers, he has the bible, everyday you wake up and you see the sun, rain, sky, clouds, babies being born, is a miracle. There are also numerous other miracles of healing, yet you chose to turn away. Again the only way into heaven is through Christ Jesus, all other doors lead to hell. Narrow and strait is the way that leads to salvation and few be that find it, broad is the way and smooth is the path that lead to distruction and many be there that go in.
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY

I am a Catholic so my answer is a reflection of Catholic Teaching. Many have said out here that Catholics believe that only they will go to heaven and that is NOT what the church teaches. It is Catholic teaching that "God wills that everyone of His children be saved and Jesus came and went to the cross to offer salvation to everyone of His children. This is called the "Universal Salvific" belief. As a Catholic, I accept and believe this. We speak so much today about "Christian Unity" and to me it doesn't mean that we will all become one religion, it means that all religious people will be one (the same heart and mind of Christ). As a very well know Catholic Bishop who is now deceased used to say...."We may not all meet in the same pew, but we can all meet on our knees " This was Bishop Fulton Sheen and he was a well know and respected Bishop, loved by so many people, not just Catholics, but Jews, Hindu's, and he preached and spoke all over the world to so many other religions. Our God is a good and loving God and He wills that all His children be saved.

Hell is full of alot of good ppl. I think religion has nothing to do with going to hell. If you live by Gods word, the Bible, that's what matters. Thats' our instruction manual for living. I do think to many ppl focus on religion or denomination to much. I myself am non denominational. I am a christian. Have a great day & God bless. : )

But no one is a good person, at least not innately/naturally. We all have the inclination to do bad things, even to those we love. Granted, some people do worse things than others, and/or on a more consistent basis, but it doesn't change the fact that not one of us is a good person on our own.

If that person is nice it doesn't matter, the only way to heaven is through the father. U can not pray to someone else and worship them and expect to enter his kingdom

Most Christians believe that if you aren't a practicing Christian (and typically only THEIR CHURCH aka version of Christianity), then yes, you can be as good as a human can be and your doomed.
Conversely as long as you are a member of their church, in good standing, you can be self-rightous and rude, hypocritical and dishonest, but you WILL be saved.
At least one church/cult, the Jehovah's Witnesses, actually believe that child molesters can be saved unless there were two witnesses to the act and the perpetrator isn't repentent. They believe he'll be saved (they don't believe in Hell) before a non-JW living a good and honest life.
Pretty friggin' sick ain't it?
