Funnest thing? OK, what always makes me laugh is the faces tourists make when looking up at the tall buildings. I'm sure plenty a vacation picture scared the kiddies later. ;-D

oh man. just being in nyc will be the funnest thing.

walk everywhere, go to chinatown, little italy, soho, times square.
walk through the parks, go to whole foods for lunch and eat amongst the most interesting and colorful people in the world.

Enjoy the sites. Don't plan anything. Just let things happen around you and you'll see. Oh, and don't wear expensive stuff or walk around dark areas. That may not be a good thing.
