If you are sitting at the "bar" and the bartender serves you, yes. If you are sitting at a table and are served by a waitress, tip the waitress. In most bars, the bartender gets paid a lot more than the waitresses to make up for the tip thing. If the bartender makes the same as the waitresses, the tips are usually split.

If they are an attentive, courteous bar tender, then yes and a buck per drink is about right. If you keep the tab going to the end of the night, then about 15% is cool.
Now, I just heard that if the bartender is the owner of the bar, you are not as obliged to tip, because they are getting the profits from everyone. I still do sometimes, at the 2 owner operated pubs I go to.
I'm speaking from a US perspective by the way, so if you're in another country, I'd ask them.

You should definitely tip the bartender. The better you tip, the friendlier the bartender will become and the better the service will be. You might even get a free drink occasionally.

If he served you directly then yes. Otherwise, tip the waiter or waitress in the bar. They are supposed to split it with the bartender. 10-15% is fair depending on the amount of your bill and how good the drinks were.

Um, yes please. If you can afford to go out to do your drinking and you DON'T tip, you look v-e-r-y cheap. If you're only getting one drink, tip a buck. I don't care if it's DOLLAR BEER NIGHT...TIP A BUCK. If you're getting one or two drinks a dollar is ok, but you're pushing it at three. At 4 drinks (all at once, I don't mean if you have 4 drinks over the course of a night) you should be at $2 minimum. More if they're frozen, blended or shaken concoctions.
Oh, and ALWAYS leave the silver...taking change off a bar is the easiest way I know to look like a bum or an old person.

Generally I would say yes if at a bar setting at the bar but if your being served drinks from the bar by a waitress or Waiter then take care of those people first. Bar tenders normally make more money and don't relay only on the tips like wait staff do.

a dollar a drink will get the bartender to pay slight attention to you but if you want good drinks and repeat prompt service 20% is what you should give with1$ being the minimum if your buying 8$ drinks you wouldn't want to give the bartender 1$

if you want personal service and better drinks, yes. always tip after the first drink. depending on the kind of service you get after that, you can tip more or less for subsequent drinks. as a bartender, i don't expect tips if i'm rude or slow - which i never am.

Absolutely - especially if you want to be treated with any decency when you order your next drink. Bartenders don't get paid jack, tips are the source of their income so be generous.

Usually out of courtesy you normally would. Its just like
most places you go out to, if the service is to your liking then
it really is up to you to decide on fair amount cash percentage
you give. Bartenders and waitresses jobs are not easy, they
do put up alot with down right idiots.
