Actually, they do come here to fight. This has happened for example on 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.
You might also want to ask, why doesn't anyone attack China, Russia, Japan, India, England, or any other country.
One thing to remember is our country is extremely young just over 200 year and has been distant to much of the world. In modern days this safety distance is not so great as it had been. You may very well get your wish in the immediate future due to modern weaponry available accross the globe and the more wide spread availability of nuclear information and matterials. To make a long story short, you may want to think about getting your gas mask now if you haven't done so already and build a fall-out shelter.

For one the US has the worlds largest and most technologically advanced navy in the world and they probably would intercept any invasion fleet before it got here. Second, even if they did invade, it would be very difficult for the invading force to sustain themselves here because the worlds 2 largest oceans surround America. That means that all the subsequent supplying forces and any reinforcements would have to undertake a voyage of no less than 2-3 weeks in the most quickly accessible routes to the US. Also, America already has a majority of her armed forces on the ground in the US anyways, which means any invading Army would have to have enough people land to hold up the million or so soldiers we have here alone, on top of no less than 150 million armed citizens of the US, long enoug for subsequent forces to land in another week or two, all the while getting through our Navy, and missile defense system. They would also have to be able to sustain themselves economically in order to pay for the war....Needless to say, it would be very, very, VERY difficult for any country to invade the US.

I can't believe only one other person said anything like this.... we have been invaded and 3000 Americans died because of it.
A small army did come here to wage war and was successful... they caused death, destruction, economic uncertainties, political strife and constant worry/concern about our borders and points of entry such as ports and all the containers they hold.... all this costs us money... another goal of the war brought to our shores.
They can never have a total victory but lots of small inconveniences are victories to them... these are among their goals.
Make no mistake that an army has invaded and continues to make more plans for the pain of Americans.... Vote Vote Vote

You should read a book by Noam Chomsky called Failed States. There are many wonderful books that are on the market to give you insight into what war is all about. What many call the invasion of other countries is EMPIRE building.....always remember the NEW WORLD ORDER is in fact the Old WORLD ORDER. Rich and Poor. Nothing in between....slave class. We say it is to bring democracy to other nations, but it's for their own agenda's. It would make for a good horror film.

Make sure you read(history books, papers) where many countries (their suffering people begged for USA's help) --- not all were invaded.
Hawaii (then US territory) invaded by Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor(1941) --- other properties, people and territories have been invaded as well...
Young one, please read more about war before making such comments. Our country isn't perfect but it is our home and we need to stop and be thankful for what we do have.... I don't see a great number of people leaving USA to live in some of the other countries.

Were you born yesterday, or just dumb? First, your facts are so wrong it's pitiful. The United States has fought on its own soil many times. For F*CK'S sake the very holiday you're celebrating this weekend is associated with a war fought on our soil. The War of 1812 was partially fought here as was the entirety of the Civil War. We were attacked in Hawaii in 1941 which brought us into WWII. Since WWII we changed our previous stance of general isolationism to one of projecting power abroad so that we don't fight anymore wars at home. THE REASON WE FIGHT ELSEWHERE IS SO WE DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT THE WARS HERE ON OUR OWN SOIL.

The goal of the United States in invading other countries is twofold. 1) to destroy evil dictators and governments. 2) Spread the blessings of freedom and democracy to other countries. Yes other countries could invade ours, but what's would be the purpose of that?

It would be exceedingly difficult for another army other than Canada or Mexico to invade the US. We are protected by two oceans. Therefore, in any war, the US winds up fighting, I will not call it invading, on foreign soil.

Because the American people have the right to bear arms. If a foreign army tried to invade our country, not only would they have to face our military of 2.5 million soldiers, but they would also be up against 280 million angry citizens with guns. You do the math.

Do you really think that could happen, dip stick? The multi-billion dollar budget the US spends each and every year is designed to do just that, keep the bad guys out. It's not a perfect system, and it's gotten a lot better since 9/11, so the rest of us will keep our fingers crossed that it continues to keep out the slime that would do us harm.
In the meantime, a shrink could probably help you with those masochistic tendencies that you have developed.
