I used to when I was younger. I had a lot of self esteem issues, and feelings of worthlessness. Cutting myself made me feel better, because I was doing something that noone else was doing. I realize now that I was just crying out for help, hoping someone would see the cuts and talk to me about them.
Why wait? If you really want to be strong, do the thing that is really hard, and talk to someone you trust about it - preferably an adult who has some experience and training. You are not alone, and you are not a freak. I am a now a college educated, successful married man with a baby on the way.

I don't, never thought about it, I'm not a big fan of pain. Some people its an adrenilne rush, pain is the only time they feel anything. However this can be very dangerous if you cut something major or if you do it too much. Infact you can be considered suicidal. If your considered suicidal they can put you away in a rubber room. That's not something I'd like either. If you are cutting yourself I think you need to see a doctor before it gets out of hand.

I've read from people that do cut themselves and ask about it here, mostly seeking some kind of help or rationalization, acceptance or something. It sounds and seems very frightening to Even consider doing such a thing to myself, but obviously it is being done and it seems to be a very common form of self mutilation, etc. I don't have a clue... could it be that the "cutters" are attempting suicide with each cut, or are they screaming for help with each slice.

NO, I have answered many questions to someone that had did that. The only reason why someone would do that is because they have alot of emotionally serious issues with themselves, usually sexual abuse as a child or something really serious.
If this is you.. get some help

A lot of people cut themselves. A lot don't like to admit it. I have cut myself in the past. It's not worth it. Don't listen to the a$$holes telling you that you're stupid or retarded. Listen to the ones that say to get help. The ones that say they care. Because people do care.

No but I have known people who did and usually they have other problems that are the root of why they want to hurt themselves. If you want to cut yourself or know someone who does then the only answer is professional help.

No. This is a serious problem. People do it because they think it is one thing they can control in their life but really it gets out of control. Anyone that does this seriously needs help to figure how why they do it and how to stop.

Unfortunately, I'm sure there are many. While I understand it somewhat but have not done it personally, I know my daughter did. She did get counseling which helped her deal with what her frustrations were.
