A "donkey" is a runner, someone who cleans or fetches ingredients while others cook. I assume he calls people "donkey" meaning "you are unfit to be a real cook".

omg.. I didnt watch this show.. But I saw this clip on The Soup hosted by Joel McHale on E! Gordon Ramsey said and I quote
"You ******* donkey!" Which I think was hysterical!!

I think hes a meaner version of Simon Cowell just allowed near fire and knives.

I'm not British so I can't answer whether it's a british thing or not, but I just assumed it's the American equivilent of calling someone an ***. - Crap, they bleeped it out, OK, a 3 letter word starting with a, ending in s that rhymes with pass.
