Why would anyone fall for this? Is it general ignorance?

Don't they realize that EVERY business is in business to make money, and that the two choices are pay a wage that brings workers to you or go out of business?
Labor is almost always the least expensive part of any product. if industry doubled or tripled wages, the amount of businesses that would fail would be, in reality none. and if a business DID fail because it could not afford legal workers, then that is not anyone's fault but the business owner's.
Why would the common buy into this?
Supply and demand have always weeded out unsuccessful business ventures
Can anyone prove that a viable business WOULD go under if they were not allowed to break the law?
If they can, prove it, that is, I will say
GOOD! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ALLOW YOU TO BREAK THE LAW SO YOU CAN STAY IN BUSINESS!
You are just like any other criminal enterprise!
FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!!!!!

it should read why does the left

I can give very good examples:
within a one hour drive of Pontiac Michigan, you can find many McDonalds. You will find that few really pay minimum wage, although SOME do, many also pay up to $9.50 per hr for cashiers and kitchen help!
Why is that?
Supply and demand and the fact that the owner would rather pay a bit more than go out of business.

Each store sells around $7,500 worth of food a day, it pays maybe 15% in food costs and other overhead costs (building, water, gas, electricity) another $500 (commercial properties are expensive, and the majority of THAT cost is mortgage).
EVEN at a high average of $10 per hour per person, this example still only pays $1800 per day in wages.
$1,125 (food and paper)+
$ 500 (other overhead)+
$1,800 (high end wages)
------------
$3,425> $7,500-
$3,425=
-----------
$4,075 per day earnings for the owner. If that isn't enough, and NEEDS illegals, Tough!

yes tx, I have owned and managed for others several businesses!
I owned a construction/remodeling company, and a computer business (custom built systems), I also ran 8 restaurants. In none of these ventures, was labor the most costly.
I will concede that it could be more or even the most costly in other areas.
I was only speaking from MY experience.

I always thought labor was high. But either way we would not go under. Some might make less profit.
It would be an employees market than-not employer--that is a very good thing for most of us.
Prices might go up a little but competition would be high so they will come back down-better.
It all boils down too-we wouldn't hurt -only gain in everything.

The economy does NOT depend on illegal aliens. Sure, greedy CEOs (making $50 to $150 MILLION a year) and dirty business owners depend on illegal aliens the only thing illegal aliens are contributing to is the collapse of our economy and making the rich richer.

Consumers are NOT benefiting from lower labor costs. Again, it's CEOs and business owners who benefit from taxpayer subsidies for their illegal alien workers. The Big Three automakers say they moved so many jobs to Mexico because their labor costs are 80 percent less than in America. Anybody notice the price of new cars spiraling downward under NAFTA?

Your so misinformed, "Labor is almost always the least expensive part of any product."

YOUR an idiot.....Ever owned a business? From the largest to the smallest, labor cost is always the most expensive. I have ran several businesses and trust me, labor costs can eat you alive.

You better know what you are doing and what your selling, otherwise, labor costs alone will put you out of business, been there and done that, and its no fun...

The only ones who benefits from the labour of illegal immigrants are the illegals themselves and the CEO's and owners of big businesses. Employing illegals does not benefit consumers or American citizens in any way, shape, or form. It only hurts and costs regular American citizens in all the damage to our society and our social services that are taxpayer funded and are meant to be only for the use of legal American citizens and legal immigrants - those who pay the taxes.

It's ALL propoganda!!! Do you ever NOTICE how many people just on "yahoo answers" alone, USES this SAME lame excuse??! Our politicians are trying to CONVINCE all of us,that we NEED illegals, to "do jobs Americans won't do". Well,i've got NEWS for THEM,there are NO jobs that Americans won't do!!! We just have more BRAINS,than to work for SLAVE WAGES!!!
If ALL illegals left tomorrow, the businesses would STILL survive, the employers would just have to PAY a DECENT wage!!! Instead of all that money going into THEIR pocket!

Mexico needs to go home. Some american businesses need to make some choices, if they want to employ mexican citizens, they need to do it IN Mexico, and set up a plant, there. Or, just move their entire company south. New companies will move in their place that will employ americans...
