NO! I still use my finger to turn on my laptop. Of course soon I will need some tech gadget to remind me where I've left my laptop, keys, and anything else that isnt stored binary.

Of course we are. The whole "Y2K" thing proved it. But since every computer didn't meltdown on Jan 1, 2000 everyone forgot about it and treats the over-reliance on technology as a joke.
Think about it: your identity is just a bunch of bits on a computer, your bank account, your 401(k), your paycheck, everything. It would not take much for most people to be completely and totally wiped out financially if the world's banking/brokerage networks were to become disabled.
This is one reason to BUY GOLD. Keep it in your home or an accessible place and you will be able to barter with it if currencies devalue due to a system crash. And also have at least one or two skills you can rely upon (ie repairing cars or carpentry or the like). Always a good idea to have a firearm of some type as well. For hunting and for protection.

It is an interesting dilemma of our culture. We are technology addicts, from our new clothes to are high tech phones and those flat screen HD TVs; all of it hinged on the idea that someone will be able to fix it, and someone will keep the electricity flowing.
There have been a few movies and shows that have come out in recent years that have given possibilities for what would happen if just the electricity stopped. In the Great Lakes area we had a problem with that just a few years back. The electricity for the entire Detroit, MI area was out for 24 hours with some areas out for days. Suddenly people realized that we can't even fill up our gas tanks without electricity, their credit cards are useless, even most cellphone towers shut down and the rest were overloaded with a million people all trying to figure out what they were going to do.
I noticed that it seems that those people that are the most responsible for technology (the Bill Gates types) are also the ones that go camping every vacation, go hiking in the hills, or climbing cliffs. Like they know how fragile the whole system is and that one little thing could crash the whole thing and put us back in the 1930's (or worse).
Personally, I have my camping stuff packed, my Jeep filled up, and a wad of cash... just in case.

Yes. I'm horrible at math, I could never have a job working with cash and prices without a calculator or cash register. I can count money just fine, but I can't add up all the prices of things in my head, and add on tax. I'd need a register. Also, I depend on my computer to do my work, as does my boyfriend. If my internet or my computer were to stop working, I'd feel lost, and really frustrated. We depend on technolohy for most things. Too dependant, yes, probably. Not everyone is, but myself, yes.

We always have been. Technology makes us human. The moment we were able to use tools to hunt, or make fire, or use animal skin for clothing we have already embraced technology, the production of different tools, herbs and food are also technology. Yes we are dependent on technology and this makes us human, it is not evil but it can be if we forget that technology is just a tool not our lives.

I think so...most people can't don't even know each others phone numbers anymore because they are used to just finding the name in the cell phone menu.
