I wish I could decide to genetically alter my make-up, too. I guess it just doesn't work that way. Maybe there's an answer to it in the bible. Can you find a reference quote for me?
Sorry, forgot that Christianity stopped evolving over 1000 years ago.

I am not an Evolutionist. I am a Pastor and lifelong Christian. I will answer your question by stating that a human being is not a bird, humans cannot grow their own wings, nor can a fish grow wings as well. Look at it this way "If God wanted man to fly, he would have given him wings". God did not want it so.
To respond to Kak who claims that evolution happens over a long period of time. See http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/index.shtml - click on the link: *Did the theory of evolution disprove the creation taught in the Bible? * to find out more about Creation Versus Evolution. This site is also very good because it teaches more about Christianity, Early church history, Jesus and the Bible. Plus it features a FAQ list too.
Also, one more thing to point out, if Evolution did exist (it doesn't but lets say for the moment it does), and Evolution is a constant process. Always working, always in motion. And humans evolve at different rates (some faster than others do) And they are constantly evolving. How come, like the question is asked, a person doesn't grown anything, a third eye, a sixth finger, a third arm, or even wings. How come there are not any mutants like in the X-Men films? I'll tell you why, because Evolution does not exist.

Evolving is according to your need to fly. Try jumping off of a cliff every day and maybe that will start the need.. When you sleep at night just tuck in your arms and squat on a little stick and sleep that way.. Chickens like that!! If you do that for 23 million years then your wings will grow..

Assuming you have any good sense, you would know that birds are avians.
We can't evolve back to something we were not in the first place. As in, our ears were gills. We were itty bitty fishes from the primordial brew. Now. we swim in mummy's amniotic fluid until we are thrust out into this mortal coil.
In your case, if you had a few more brain cells, you'd have a better chance of being chimp, bit closer to your particular rung on evolution's ladder.
A diamond took more time evolving from coal to stone than all the religious bunk in history.

I'm thinking you're putting this question out to get a rise out of the readers.
You have no idea what evolution or biology is about and you are throwing out statements like you're an authority.
Well, you come across as an imbecile. So, give it up.
No wings. No brains, either.

one of two reasons
1. Evolution takes a long time
2. Evolution doesn't work because you want something, it works because you need to adapt. I am assuming that you are living just fine without wings so why the hell would your body decide to make some.

Our species never grew wings, for one thing. Evolution is not a voluntary process. Besides, evolution takes millions upon millions of yeas, so it's pretty damn unlikely that you will see it happen in front of your own eyes. Is this supposed to be your way of proving that evolution is fabricated? If so, you are a jack@$$.

Evolving is not ur decision, but the need for creatures to adopt inable to survive. It is doubtful that the entire race will ever need wings to survive, and it would take a long time anyway.

because your body isn't capable of it. you can't just sprout wings out of nowhere, you would have to gradually evolve, meaning if you could [which i dont think you can] sprout wings, it wouldnt happen until your great-great-great-great grandchildren or something like that, i mean look at how long it "supposidly" took us form from apes to humans. also evolution happens due to your enviorment, your body will adapt over time, and by the time wings would come it would be after great-grea-great-great grand-children like i said before.

Haven't you heard, evolution has evolved. Long ago it happened so fast there was no record left. Everything completely changed in one generation. Now is happens so slow we can not observe it. Its called 'punctuated equilibrium'. No wonder we can not find the missing link.
