I have some music DVD whose audio I want to rip, but I don't have a DVD audio ripper. Can anyone recommend a freebie that will rip the files in a standard audio format (.wma or .mp3. hopefully)?

The process for doing this can be a bit complicated. First you'll need to rip a DVD to vob files using SmartRipper http://www.downseek.com/download/21649.asp

Then you can use a program called DVD2AVI http://www.divx-digest.com/software/dvd2avi.html to extract the audio. Just go to File -> Open, load the first vob file and the rest will load automatically. Then save the project somewhere. This will give you a project file you can delete if you want and a wav file.

Once you have that wav file you'll probably want to convert it to an mp3. I recommend JetAudio http://www.jetaudio.com/download/ for audio conversion. But if you don't want to download such a large program, try WAV to MP3 Encoder http://www.mthreedev.com/download.html
