Feeding orphaned kittens takes time and dedication. Do the following to ensure proper nutrition.

Steps:
1. Use a bottle and nipple made for nursing kittens or a human preemie nipple bottle (a nipple for premature infants).

2. Use commercially prepared formulas for feeding orphaned kittens. Avoid using goat's milk.

3. Measure out the appropriate amount of milk for the kitten for one day: A 1-week-old kitten needs 13mL of milk per 100g of body weight, a 2-week-old needs 17mL milk per 100g body weight, a 3-week-old needs 20mL milk per 100g body weight, a 4-week-old needs 22mL milk per 100g body weight.

4. Divide the above daily dosage by 4, and feed this dosage to the kitten four times a day.

5. Warm the milk.

6. Invert the bottle to let the milk ooze out slowly before inserting into the kitten's mouth.

7. Avoid feeding the kitten while he's on his back. It's acceptable for the kitten to slightly elevate his front paws.

8. Check that the kitten's abdomen is enlarged but not overextended after feeding. Kittens should gain 50 to 100 g per week.

9. Encourage a 3-week-old kitten to eat solid food.

Tips:
Kittens generally just eat and sleep for the first several weeks. If crying excessively, they could be cold or hungry or both.

Orphaned kittens need to be stimulated to defecate. Soak a cotton ball in warm water and very gently rub the anal area.

Warnings:
Never squeeze milk out of the bottle while the nipple is still in the kitten's mouth. This could result in aspiration pneumonia and death.

Nipples by Gina Gore
The longer and pointier nipples for kittens work better because kittens like to hold nipples into the backs of their throats unlike human infants.

First of all where is the mother? They really need to be with mom right now. Keep them away from the bigger older animals entirely for a while, the kittens are too young to defend theirselves from anything. Go to your local pet supply. They will have baby bottles for kitties and they have certain milk to substitute for the mama. But, I will give you a recipe for a milk that my vet told me about. Use
12oz of water
1 envelope Knox Gelatin
1 12oz can of whole evaporated milk (not skim)
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons plain yogurt, not nonfat
Boil the water, add the gelatin - stir well.
Add the following ingredients in order, mixing well after each addition:

1/2 of the canned milk
mayonnaise and yogurt
the rest of the milk
Variations include the addition of kitty vitamins, acidophalus, and/or pureed baby food meat such as lamb, chicken, or beef. I have seen variations with two egg yolks added, but I would caution against this, due to the risk of salmonella with raw eggs. For very easy mixing, you can use a blender at low speed, but I also like a bowl with a wire whisk.
here is another
2 Cups unflavored Pedialite
1 packet unflavored gelatin
1 12 oz can Goats Milk
1 Tablespoon Karo Syrup
1 Egg Yolk
1 Tablespoon "Real" Mayo (Kraft)
Dissolve gelatin in hot (not boiling) Pedialite. Cool slightly Add ingredients, mix well (I use a whip).

You can leave out the gelatin on the second recipe.

Feed them can cat food and dilute it down with a little kitty milk. It makes it easier to to eat. at 4 weeks they do not need to drink from a baby bottle. You can put the milk in a bowl and stick their mouth in it not hard. They will like it up. Always use kitty milk. Regular cow milk will give them diarrhea. They can also eat kitty chow. You can moisten it with milk. I have 4 orphan kittens that were 4 weeks old and they are doing fine.

you bought cat milk from the store, right? good. wen you feed them, if the kitten is having trouble getting milk, then you keep squeezing the bottle little by little until the kitty stops trying to rip the bib off. and if ur older cats dont like them or play rough with them, they cud hurt them. same thing with the dogs.

P.S.
we get little baby kittens all the time. its nice to raise a kitten with a puppy. we did, and it was so cute when they cuddled and went to sleep together!

I have 5 week old kittens that are starting to eat wet food and even softened kitten chow. I think what you are doing is what is best for the kitten. It is getting to that age where the mom would start weening it anyways. I would continue doing what you are doing for another couple weeks just to ensure the kitten gets enough nutrition. Raising kittens is a full time job when you don't have the mother, good luck! Hope I helped :)

That is VERY young to be without the mother cat.

She not only feeds them but her milk also provides such things as antibiotics to keep them healthy until they can make their own. You should seriously contact a vet for help, get them with the mother cat, or even find another mother cat who is nursing kittens for them to be with (that only works some of the times).

Don't let your older cats or dogs play with them..whatever you do..Cats tend to be very territorial and might harm the little kittens. and your dog might be a bit too rough. Put them somewhere safe like a big cardboard box lined with towels or rags. Feed them milk either through dipping your finger and letting them lick it or using a eye-dropper. Feed them soft can foods, and just let them grow up...wait about 2-3 months before they can play with your other pets...

Things u need :
Baby bottle
formula milk (they sell it at wal-mart, in the kitten section)
put the milk in the bottle and warm it up ,make sure its not to warm.if the little part were they suck it from is too big (idk wut its called) get a sandwich bag and pour the milk in there, then on one of the closed corners make a tiny hole it has to be really really small , u can make the hole with a needle or something. those are some ways u can feed the little kitten

I wouldn't recommend breast feeding in this instance. Go to a pet store. They will have the right kind of milk you feed kitties. You do not give them cows milk.

go to your local pet store and buy kitten formula and if the kittens aren't eating on their own yet buy a small feeding bottle they sell those too
