I think of them as regular human beings, but I just feel if they want equal treatment and rights, They have the same responsibilities as Americans. Don't fight. Just become legal.

You answered your own question within your question. They're ILLEGAL. If they want to become citizens, let them apply for entry like everyone else has to do. Is that a no-brainer or what????

Why is we keep hearing the same old story America wouldn't exist without immigrants many countries were found by immigrants at one time or another it's not only America.Illegal aliens do steal jobs from Americans by working for low wages and living together they do depress the market and hurt the real people of this country who want a better life also and much of their money is sent back to their real home "Mexico". Illegal aliens are prone to using fake documents, fake ss numbers. Many who get in trouble with the law simply move on get a new id and SS number only the people left behind are the real people who suffer. Bush as much admitted in his national TV address to the nation that illegals were in fact draining social services, our schools are over crowed more time and attention must be giving to illegals as they require twice the work and in reality many will never complete high school and many could careless about learning English which means they are really not bettering their life they simply want to earn a few dollars more on the hour and send this money back to Mexico. It's time America stop bailing out all these countries they are all grown up now and continue to be welfare countries who sit back and wait for the cash to flow in, rather then try and improve their own country they simply export their poor and needy to America. What a deal!

We can't afford them. If there were only several thousand, or even a million, the impact and problem might not be so great. However, even without more expensive ESL programs, it costs $18,000 to educate a child for one year in California. The vast bulk of that is paid for by the middle and higher classes in this country who subsidize services for the poor. Health care costs have shot up because of all of the services for indigents hospitals have had to absorb.

While we foot the bill, the overcrowded and underfunded schools in areas where illegals concentrate can no longer adequately educate our own children who are losing their upward mobility.

Their better life is at the expense of our children and our sick. There are too many of them, and we can't afford them. How can we just let people come?

After the system were fixed I might go for a residency for screented illegals here only, no bringing in new family, or citizenship. However, that would mean no guest worker program on top of current immigration rates, or only one where employers truly provided education and health care service needs arising due to the presence of their new work force.

The numbers are too huge, and we can't deal with those already here. How on earth could we take in more?

All people are normal human beings, have feelings, rights, and so forth. But, when it comes to the citizenship question, NO.
You can't have 400 million people move into the United States. It's not gonna work. People need to work a lot harder on fixing their own countries, and we need to have immigration enforcement in america. America already gives away billions every year for that, but apparently people just take the money, because other countries never seem to improve themselves, they just come back for more money, and there's always more people trying to get into the United States. This whole thing is getting stupid, and it could wreck the country if it goes on too long at this rate...

I hear what you say but there is a lot of hatred and bigotry in this country for that to ever happen. It's easy for them to point the finger and say that illegal immigrants take all the jobs, deminish wages and commit all the crime. In reality it's the employers who break the law by hiring them in the first place, then they brake a second law by paying them lower than minimum wage, but americans rather point the finger at the immigrants than the employers. second, the prisons are full of criminals, and the majority are american citizens, i don't know where they got the information that said illegals commit all the crimes, as i remember the Oklahoma city bomber and the Unibomber were american citizens. It is all a case of ignorance, hate, bigotry that some americans have towards illegals, they are afraid of what they don't understand. It's just a case of scapegoating.

First of all, I would like to say that immigrants are an important part of our society. America wouldn't exist without immigrants. And I commend the people who come from other countries and go through the necessary channels to become legal citizen, and I think it is because of the determination of these people that all immigrants should do what is necessary if they want the opportunities that America offers.

However, you can't really hate someone for wanting better for themselves and their families. I don't blame the illegal immigrants for coming here, I blame the large corporations who continue to hire illegal immigrants. If our government wants to do something about the immigration issue, a good place to start would be big business policy.

My question is why all of a sudden is this an issue when undocumented workers have forever been coming to the U.S. to work?
They do not steal jobs, but rather take jobs nobody else wants. Steal jobs my foot!
Not all illegal immigrants are good. Some are criminals, but most are hard workers looking to make a better living for their families. The small wages they receive are far greater than the wages they receive working on some finca in México for mere pennies. Illegal immigrants have helped our economy. They are big in the construction business and have kept prices relatively low. One of my jobs in the past was to guard a private fenced neighborhood. Undocumented workers showed up at the gate. I asked the driver for his license and proof of insurance. I looked at his license and asked him if this was his. He assured me it was. I was amused. The picture on the license was a woman's picture. I pointed this out to him and he told me it was his wife's who was sick in the back seat. I told him I was sorry but his wife had to do the driving inside the fence. She got out and they switched places. She drove the car through the gate. As I was interviewing them I had a gut feeling that these were good folks. So when they went around the corner and switched back, I didn't want to know. So I didn't know. News to me. Wink. For the most part these undocumented workers are good folks. Sure there are bad apples but lets not paint all illegals with the same brush. Like México we too need to maintain a standard for citizenship. We are a land of immigrants and all immigrants are welcome, theoretically. Let all immigrants meet the requirements of this country for citizenship just like México demands the same.

I'm from UK and over here we have immigrants burning the flag saying Osama will get us. How nice is that, Because we pay Tax on everything that means they get a free house, free car, and they cant work for a year so they get payed for nothing.
I honestly think that everyone should just stay where they are because I'm sick of looking in the papers and seeing Muslims threatening us in while we pay for them to stay here, especially after the bombing of the London underground, They were all British. It makes me sick, I'm not racist I swear I just dont want to take any chances with more immigrants because they could kill us all lol

Well this is probably going to sound mean but I really don't care. My opinion is this: America is here for Americans. Africa is there for Africans. Mexico is there for Mexicans. Etc. We have enough people here as it is and all illegals should be caught and sent back to where ever the hell they're from. If they want to be an American citizen. they need to at least be LEGAL.

people say " job stealers" why ? why are immigrants job stealers? First of all if people would get off of their tails and go to work instead of collecting welfare staying home drinking beer then there wouldnt be any jobs for them to steal. I live in louisiana and people down here dont want to work thats why there are jobs all over the place here they collect from fema and the government so if immigrants move in and are willing to work then why are people complaining about it. The saying is we will rebuild it --- thats not true we will have it rebuilt but not by us that is true.

I believe we need immigrants coming to this country. America was founded on immigration. Every American is a composite of other nationalities and none of us would be here if it weren't for immigration. They need to be here to make money (among many other reasons), and we need to hire them for jobs people already here won't take. I DO think they need to be here LEGALLY, for their protection as well as ours. If they want to be able to get jobs, and get the social services they deserve (as legals or visitors with work permits) they need to learn to speak English. That's not to say they need to give up their language and culture, but they need to learn the one they are living with....hence the phrase "When in Rome....do as the Romans do"
